The first of TNA’s One Night Only pre-taped pay-per-view series is Friday, and with the focus on the X Division during the event, there is no better name for this show than X-TRAVAGANZA 2013.

Part of the reason TNA Wrestling has been around as long as it has is because of the innovations the company has made with the X Division. On Friday night, wrestling fans get a chance to see the high-flying division on full display.

While the X Division is notorious for having the freshest faces in the industry selling out to put on a great show and make a name for themselves, the X-TRAVAGANZA event will feature an eclectic mix of in-ring veterans, former champions and relative unknowns.

The result will be one of the most intense PPVs of the year.

Where: Impact Zone, Orlando, Fla.

When: Friday, April 5 at 8 p.m. ET (Pre-Taped)

Preview and Predictions

Christian York vs. Matt Bentley vs. Alex Silva vs. Sam Shaw vs. Lince Dorado vs. Puma vs. Jimmy Rave

While on paper this match doesn’t look that appealing, longtime TNA and indy wrestling fans know just how much talent Jimmy Rave has and how great his matches usually are. Christian York is also a respectable in-ring worker, but the other combatants will have to prove their worth.

Alex Silva and Sam Shaw are former Gut Check winners like York, but do not have the same technical prowess. While this Xscape Match should be a several well-organized spots between these men, this looks like it’s being billed as York’s coming out party.

Predicted Winner: Christian York.

Tony Nese and Rashad Cameron vs. Douglas Williams and Kid Kash

Most casual wrestling fans won’t look twice at this matchup, but this could be one of the most interesting bouts of the night. Douglas Williams and Kid Kash are two veterans who have been around the business for a long time and always put on excellent matches.

The real wild card is the team of Tony Nese and Rashad Cameron. While Nese may be familiar to some TNA fans from his previous stint with the company, Rasad Cameron is BLK Jeez, an extremely talented wrestler working the Indy scene in major promotions across the East Coast.

Predicted Winner: Tony Nese and Rasad Cameron.

Robbie E. vs. Chavo Guerrero

The battle between Robbie E. and Chavo Guerrero must be geared toward the casual fans that want to know some of the superstars, because this is not an ideal X Division match.

Both Robbie E. and Guerrero will put on a fine show and get the crowd excited, but hardcore wrestling fans tuning into this special PPV do not want to watch this Impact pre-show dark match.

Predicted Winner: Chavo Guerrero.

Mason Andrews vs. Rubix vs. Zema Ion vs. Kenny King

Of all the matches of the night, the bout that will feature the craziest moments and the most high-flying dives will be the Ultimate X match between Mason Andrews, Rubix, Zema Ion and Kenny King.

Mason Andrews is actually Scorpio Sky from PWG and Rubix is actually Jigsaw from Chikara, thus adding two of the more gifted workers in the business today to an incredibly physically demanding match.

Add in the TNA staples Zema Ion and X Division champion Kenny King, and there is little doubt that this bout is the favorite to steal the show.

Predicted Winner: Kenny King.

Christopher Daniels and Kazarian vs. Sonjay Dutt and Petey Williams

The best tag team match of the night will occur when Christopher Daniels and Kazarian square off against Sonjay Dutt and Petey Williams, and the foursome will remind wrestling fans why they love tag team wrestling.

Not only is Bad Influence (Daniels and Kaz) dominating TNA television, the Indy legends are in-ring perfectionists and will be put to the ultimate test against two of the best workers in the industry in Dutt and Williams.

No matter which team picks up the win, as long as the fans get at least one Canadian Destroyer, this PPV will be a success.

Predicted Winner: Christopher Daniels and Kazarian.

Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn

If you were trying to sell the PPV to anther wrestling fan and could only use one match as a reason to purchase the event, it should be the final match ever between ECW legends Rob Van Dam and Jerry Lynn.

Lynn has officially retired since this match was filmed, and the fact that these men had so many great battles across the world and this will be the last time fans see him wrestle quasi-live is something special.

Add in the No DQ stipulation, and there is no doubt that this will be an amazing match.

Predicted Winner: Rob Van Dam.

Samoa Joe vs. Austin Aries

Most people that order this X-TRAVAGANZA PPV know exactly who Samoa Joe and Austin Aries are and what they have accomplished in the wrestling business, both in TNA (both former world champions) and on the indy scene.

With the focus on the X Division and the typical Impact style thrown to the curb, Aries and Joe will put on an instant classic that reaffirms the belief that these two men are the best workers in the company.

Aries and Joe will destroy each other in this match, resulting in the perfect main event and the ultimate ending to the show. I’m expecting a very exciting night of wrestling!

Predicted Winner: Austin Aries.
