When Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III tells you that he is going to be back on the field in Week 1 after suffering a torn ACL in the postseason against Seattle, you had better listen.
If you don't listen, Griffin will remind you about his will and determination in an intense, explosive Adidas commercial.
Give credit to the marketing people who came up with this spot, because it showcases all of the things that made Griffin one of the best rookie quarterbacks we have seen and gave him a forum to send a message to anyone who doubts his ability to make it back when the season starts.
It is also not a coincidence that this commercial has been released less than one week after Adam Schefter of ESPN.com cited sources saying that they "believe he has a legitimate chance to start in the 2013 opener."
One of the common comparisons people cite when discussing Griffin and his ability to return right away is Adrian Peterson, who tore his ACL in Week 16 of the 2011 season and played in every game last season en route to winning the MVP award.
However, as talented as Griffin is, that is an unrealistic comparison to make because Peterson was one of the exceptions to the rule. That is not to say Griffin won't be able to pick up right where he left off before getting hurt, but expectations should be kept in check.
Of course, when you release a commercial with a slogan that says "All In For Week 1," you are feeding the monster. Griffin is putting more and more pressure on himself and his knees.
Given what we saw from him in 2011, would you want to be the one to bet against Griffin?
