WWE Elimination Chamber 2013: Predicting Every Match on the Card

0 of 9

Elimination Chamber marks the final WWE pay-per-view before WrestleMania XXIX.  If the Royal Rumble puts us on the "Road to WrestleMania," then Elimination Chamber is the on-ramp on the "WrestleMania Expressway."

Tonight, we'll find out who will have matches for the WWE and World Heavyweight Championships at WrestleMania.  We may well find out if The Shield will be buried or will show dominance for months to come.

Aside from not having a single title defended in an Elimination Chamber Match, this should be a very interesting pay-per-view.  Each match will be analyzed and predicted in the following slides.

Pre-Show: Brodus Clay and Tensai vs. Team Rhodes Scholars

1 of 9

The WWE YouTube Pre-Show match for Elimination Chamber sees a newly formed tag team in Brodus Clay and Tensai facing Team Rhodes Scholars, which isn't even supposed to exist anymore.

Unfortunately, this match is too easy to predict.  With Rhodes Scholars basically defunct, there would be no reason for them to win this match.  Tensai and Brodus Clay need this win to establish themselves.

A loss won't hurt Rhodes Scholars because they aren't even a team anymore, but a win puts Clay and Tensai in the running for the WWE Tag Team Championships (mostly because there really aren't any other tag teams getting major attention besides Team Hell No).

Prediction: Brodus Clay and Tensai defeat Team Rhodes Scholars

Antonio Cesaro (c) vs. the Miz

2 of 9

The United States Championship is on the line in a match we've seen many times before.  Antonio Cesaro defends his title against The Miz.

This match should not end differently than the others.  Miz has repeatedly tried (and failed) to take the United States Championship from Cesaro, and this time, a spot of the WrestleMania roster may well be on the line.

Cesaro is a rising star, whereas Miz is struggling.  He's in a good place hosting MizTV and announcing on Main Event.  Cesaro needs the spotlight more than Miz, and a WrestleMania match (and win) could get Cesaro firmly entrenched into the midcard.

Prediction: Antonio Cesaro (c) defeats The Miz to retain the United States Championship

Kaitlyn (c) vs. Tamina Snuka

3 of 9

The Diva's division in WWE today is very thin.  Outside AJ and Kaitlyn, there really aren't any Diva's that fans see on a regular basis.

If it weren't for Tamina and Aksana picking a fight with the Funkadactyls, there would be very little action in the entire division, especially with no Beth Phoenix and no Eve Torres.  Tamina has not had time to feud with Kaitlyn at all, and I expect Kaitlyn to retain her title, setting up a feud with Tamina that could last through WrestleMania.

Prediction: Kaitlyn (c) defeats Tamina Snuka to retain her Diva's Championship

World Heavyweight Championship No. 1 Contender Elimination Chamber Match

4 of 9

Jack Swagger, Chris Jericho, Daniel Bryan, Kane, Mark Henry and Randy Orton will face each other in the only match scheduled to actually be an Elimination Chamber Match.  This match more than most others will set up important feuds and matches going into WrestleMania.

Some things we should expect to see include Kane and Daniel Bryan facing each other and starting the breakup of Team Hell No, Jack Swagger should impress us as he is being pushed, and we should see Mark Henry look dominant.

Chris Jericho and Randy Orton are both faces and likely won't be feuding with a face Del Rio.  Swagger will not win but keep getting a push. Kane and Daniel Bryan likely will feud with each other.  That means...

Prediction: Mark Henry defeats Jack Swagger, Chris Jericho, Daniel Bryan, Kane, and Randy Orton to become No. 1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Championship

Alberto Del Rio (c) vs. The Big Show

5 of 9

In another match that we've seen a few times before, Alberto Del Rio will face The Big Show for the World Heavyweight Championship.  Expect Big Show to walk in and out without the belt.

Del Rio recently won the championship, and has been terrorizing Big Show for weeks.  He even made Big Show cry on SmackDown a couple of weeks ago.  Big Show can't be taken seriously as a monster if two missing tires and a bucket of paint causes an emotional breakdown.

More importantly, Del Rio has gone over so well as a face that WWE should be running with the success of his face turn until they can't anymore.

Prediction: Alberto Del Rio (c) defeats Big Show to retain the World Heavyweight Championship

The Shield vs. John Cena, Sheamus and Ryback

6 of 9

This match is perhaps the most intriguing match of the night.  It also could make or break The Shield as we know them.

John Cena, Sheamus and Ryback don't need to win this match.  The Shield has to win.  If The Shield loses in any way that makes them look weak, the trio could easily be buried by the result.

If Ryback takes the pin in a Shield victory, he'll be losing yet another high-profile match, and could be hurt.  And John Cena, the No. 1 Contender for the WWE Championship, can't come off looking weak just a month and change before WrestleMania.

The best outcome is for Sheamus to take the pin in a loss to The Shield.  Not only does the Shield look stronger than ever with this outcome, but Sheamus won't be hurt by the loss.  Protecting Cena and Ryback is important to WWE right now.

Regardless of who takes the pin, The Shield has to win, or lose via disqualification and look very strong doing so.

Prediction: The Shield defeats Sheamus, John Cena and Ryback

The Rock (c) vs. CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship

7 of 9

This match is the main event.  The short-term future of the WWE Championship hangs in the balance. And the fact that The Rock will lose his title if he is disqualified or counted out puts CM Punk in prime position to regain his WWE title.

Every fan knows that John Cena is waiting in the wings, as due to his Royal Rumble victory, he will face the WWE Champion at WrestleMania XXIX.  The question now is whether or not CM Punk, The Rock or perhaps even both of them, will face John Cena.

We'll learn more about that tonight.  But this match is set to be a major event.  It's also set up to have Paul Heyman or Brock Lesnar betray CM Punk.  If that happens, CM Punk will lose this match.

Prediction: The Rock (c) defeats CM Punk via interference to retain his WWE Championship

Wildcard Predictions

8 of 9

Here are some wildcard predictions that we could possibly see:

    - Dolph Ziggler will finally cash in his Money in the Bank contract after Big Show destroys Del Rio post-match

    - Brock Lesnar will attack CM Punk against Paul Heyman's will (the referee will be down during the interference), setting up a feud between Punk and Lesnar

    - Randy Orton's heel turn will begin after being defeated by Mark Henry as the final elimination in the Elimination Chamber

    - "Dirty" Dutch Mantel (now called Zeb Colter) will cut another semi-racist promo on the WWE YouTube Pre-Show

    - Team Rhodes Scholars will have a bad breakup after the loss to Tensai and Brodus Clay, allowing Rhodes (and his glorious mustache) to turn face and feud with his former best friend
