Real Madrid Summer Transfers: 6 Players Linked with Big-Money Moves to Bernabeu

0 of 6

Though the January transfer window has now closed, that does not mean club will not be looking at ways to strengthen their squads. The summer will be here quicker than we think, and Real Madrid look ready to make some big moves.

Los Blancos are known for their ability to attract the biggest names in football to the Santiago Bernabeu. Every summer it looks as if bigger plays are on their way to Madrid, and this summer will be no different.

In fact, the rumor mill has been heavily linking some players with the shock move.

Some names look very viable and even likely, though some other names will just shock and awe.

In this article we will look at the top six big-money moves that are being linked with Real Madrid.

Edinson Cavani, Napoli

1 of 6

One rumor that has been picking up lately is that of Real Madrid being very interested in Edinson Cavani. The Napoli attacker is entering the peak of his career and would add a lot to Los Blancos.

Adam Digby of ESPN recently reported that Real Madrid’s interest in Cavani is very attractive to the 25-year-old. Cavani would undoubtedly be pleased with a move to such a big club, and it even seems likely.

However, if Real Madrid are serious about bringing in Cavani, they will have to splash the cash.

Edinson Cavani’s current release clause sits at a hefty €63 million. Florentino Perez and company will certainly be hoping that Cavani can help the deal go through, or else big money will need to be spent.

The Mirror is even reporting that Cavani is Real Madrid’s No. 1 transfer target. It would be interesting to see how the attacker fits in at Madrid, but the interest is absolutely there on both sides.

Gareth Bale, Tottenham

One of the most likely moves that could happen for Real Madrid is the purchase of Gareth Bale. The Welsh international has been linked to Madrid for quite some time and a move looks imminent.

Back in December, ESPN reported that Bale was already in talks with the Madrid-based club. But for all the talks that were being held, no official move was made from Real Madrid.

However, the Mirror recently reported that Tottenham has set a giant price of £60 million on Bale’s head, which will be hard for Los Blancos to match.

Despite how hefty the price may be for Gareth Bale, it looks increasingly likely that he could join Real Madrid very soon. The capital club is very keen on Bale, and he would provide many new options for the galaticos (via the Mirror).

David de Gea, Manchester United

One very unlikely move that has been gaining popularity is a move for Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea. With no established keeper to succeed Iker Casillas, purchasing De Gea would be a move for the future.

The Guardian recently broke rumors that Real Madrid were going to bid for the young keeper. But a shock purchase for Diego Lopez stopped any thought of De Gea coming to Madrid.

But with Los Blancos having to look to the future, the De Gea rumors may continue to surface.

Diego Lopez was recently purchased to fill in for the injured Madrid captain. Yet Lopez is not at the age to succeed the man he is replacing.

Real Madrid needs a solid replacement for the future and there may be no better choice than David De Gea.

However, as good as this move would be for the future, it does not look likely to happen anytime soon. Iker Casillas still has plenty of years left at his best form, and United will be reluctant to let their young keeper leave.

Isco, Malaga

4 of 6

Isco is the newest name gaining a head of steam in the Real Madrid rumor mill. The young Spanish midfielder would certainly improve the midfield and would be a very smart buy for Madrid.

Reports from TalkSport have suggested that Real Madrid are ready to fight for the signature of Isco. And with Los Blancos being the only Spanish club after the 20-year-old, they may have the best chance at making the purchase.

But things will be difficult for Real Madrid. Isco recently signed a new contract with Malaga raising his buyout clause to a very high €35 million (via FoxSports).

Isco may actually be one of the more manageable purchases for Real, and the addition would make a lot of sense.

But shockingly, new rumors from Football Espana have claimed that Jose Mourinho had the chance to purchase Isco, and Santi Cazorla, this past summer but opted for Luka Modric instead.

David Silva, Manchester City

5 of 6

Quite possibly the most intriguing name recently being linked to Real Madrid is Spain’s own David Silva. He has spent quite some time in the rumor mill for Real Madrid and the interest does not seem to want to go away.

The Mirror gives the most recent report linking Silva with a move to Real Madrid. The report claims that the purchase has been pondered, and fans may wonder how much truth it holds.

Silva has been a very vital part of Manchester City’s squad for a while, but the constant intrigue from Real Madrid may finally lure him to the nation’s capital.

However, there is also much reason to believe that the move will not take place. After over a year of being linked to Los Blancos, nothing has happened. This could now be leading fans to give up on the chances of the move happening.

If Real Madrid are able to purchase David Silva, the move would be huge. Silva would work well at Madrid, and he would be a better option in place of the struggling Angel Di Maria.

Radamel Falcao, Atletico Madrid

6 of 6

No other player has been headlined in Europe quite like Radamel Falcao. With Real Madrid being one of the biggest stages in the world, a move for Falcao could be huge for both player and club.

But Falcao is not merely being linked to Real Madrid; some sources claim that a move has already been finalized.

AS stated that Atletico Madrid president, Enrique Cerezo, claimed that Falcao already had “some kind of deal with Real Madrid.”

This report would be huge if true, and it is hard to doubt its validity with Falcao’s current club president admitting it openly.

But since then The Mirror has also reported that a deal has already been agreed upon for Falcao to come to the Bernabeu. A summer arrival may be best for both sides in the deal, and that may very well be why no official deal has been announced yet.

Radamel Falcao would completely revolutionize the attack for Los Blancos. The Madrid-based club is in need of a stronger forward, and Falcao fits that bill perfectly.
