It is no secret that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger adopts a strong youth philosophy at the Gunners. And whilst at times his methods are criticised, there is no denying that Wenger, during his time at the Gunners, has produced some absolute superstars...if only he could hold onto them.
According to Goal.com, the Frenchman looks set to hand a trial opportunity to a Brazilian prodigy by the name of Matheus da Cunha Gomes...Indio for short. At just 16 years of age, Indio is set to make even Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain look old.
Speaking about the opportunity, Indio told Globo Esporte (via Goal.com):
I like [Walcott] a lot. His style of play is very fast, which pleases me.
I'm anxious for this new stage in my life. I'll spend a week at Arsenal. It will be cool, I hope I enjoy it.
Of course I have the dream of playing for a European club, but everything has its right time. It will be a good experience. I want to learn.
Because the Vasco da Gama player is still under 18 years of age, any move to the English Premier League would have to wait until this time. In addition, there is no guarantee that Arsenal will necessarily be impressed by what he has to offer or whether other clubs have already contacted Indio.
There is no word yet of just when Indio will arrive in London, but by all accurate accounts, Arsenal want it to go ahead as soon as possible.
Considering that he bases his game on that of Theo Walcott, he could prove a brilliant fit for Arsenal's typical counter-attacking style and their fast ball movement.
Indio...remember the name.
