Knicks Rumors: Latest Buzz on Carmelo Anthony vs. Kevin Garnett Fight
Carmelo Anthony is right in the thick of perhaps the strangest story of the 2012-13 NBA season.
According to Ian Begley and Chris Forsberg of ESPN.com, the New York Knicks star was involved in a serious altercation with Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics on Monday night.
The initial on-court spat spilled over into the locker room and then out by the team bus before team officials and police officers eventually defused the situation.

What would make ‘Melo angry enough to try and “talk” to KG in the Madison Square Garden tunnels outside the team bus? According to Robert Littal of Black Sports Online, the Boston big man insulted his wife, Lala Anthony:
"Carmelo on his motivation to find KG after the game: I just wanted to have a 1 on 1 conversation w/him and talk it out like two grown men.
— Ian Begley (@IanBegley) January 8, 2013"
The reporter alleges that Garnett took the trash talk too far when he told the forward his wife tasted like “Honey Nut Cheerios.”
‘Melo didn’t confirm the details, but told Begley that KG was under his skin for saying something that he shouldn’t have as a man:
"Melo on what KG said to get under his skin: there's some things as men that you just don't say. #knicks
— Ian Begley (@IanBegley) January 8, 2013"
Regardless, things seem to have been smoothed over, as one of Begley’s sources is reporting that the two parties have since had a phone conversation and squashed any lingering problems from Monday night:
"Source says KG and Carmelo had a phone conversation after last night's incident. Says air has been cleared between the two. #Knicks

KG is one of the most notorious trash talkers in the NBA, and it was clear he found the right button to push when he got Anthony fired up during the Celtics' 102-96 victory over the Knickerbockers.
New York’s star swingman was definitely off his game, connecting on just 6-of-26 attempts for 20 points, with five assists and three rebounds.
For now, it seems that this beef is done, but the C’s and Knicks will meet again on January 24 in Boston. Anything could happen then, and we expect the two to feverishly compete against one another in that matchup.
