Manchester United: Robin Van Persie in Spoof Video About Leaving Arsenal
Scratch that. You now have another reason to poke out your eyes.
The latest reason comes via the graying guise of former Gunners hero turned despicable traitor Robin van Persie. The 29-year-old Dutch striker, who left Arsenal for Manchester United in the summer, appears in a spoof video—translated by talkSPORT—that depicts the fallout from the controversial transfer.
Here's the twist. Instead of angry fans and former teammates, the video focuses on Van Persie's home life. His wife, Bouchra (by the way, nice work there, Robin) and kids are present, and so is a bit of family tension.
The kids are presented as angry Arsenal supporters (so is that a bit of sociological commentary on Arsenal supporters or what?). It doesn't matter that their daddy plays for Manchester United. One of them is shown spitting up at the mention of United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
This spoof on the Van Persie family's internal strife serves as our Set Piece Video of the Day for this Wednesday. Enjoy.
The best or worst part, depending on your allegiances, is when RvP is translated as saying: "It still makes me laugh to think about the new contract I was offered by them."
It's all fun and games, of course. Gooners should grin and take it (once again), and Manchester United fans should be gracious in anticipation of their inevitable title victory secured with Arsenal's former hero.
And, yes, we're about to go into a corner a sob softly for a while. See you Thursday.
