Marco Reus has been in excellent form for Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund have clearly learned their lesson following their dismal exit from the Champions League last season.
The Bundesliga side exited the tournament in ignominious circumstances, finishing bottom of their group.
But Jurgen Klopp’s team have been a far different proposition this season with the German champions claiming wins over Ajax, Manchester City and Real Madrid in Group D.
And Dortmund were only denied a victory at the Etihad Stadium by the form of Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart.
The summer departure of Shinji Kagawa to Manchester United was deemed to have weakened the Bundesliga side, but the arrival of Marco Reus from Borussia Moenchengladbach soon won over the supporters.
The 23-year-old was in imperious form on matchday two of the Champions League this season, scoring his side’s goal at Manchester City and causing persistent problems to Roberto Mancini’s defence.
However, Klopp has a number of young players in his squad this season, and Moritz Leitner and Julian
Schieber have also played their part for Dortmund.
Coupled with talents such as Mario Gotze, Robert Lewandowski and Kevin Grosskreutz, Dortmund
will be a dangerous proposition for all clubs in the knockout stage.
