Tee Martin Turns Down Offer to Join Tennessee Volunteers Coaching Staff

Tee Martin has decided to stay at USC and pass on the offer to rejoin the Tennessee Volunteers as a position coach on Butch Jones' staff.

The Twitterverse blew up with a picture of Martin arriving in Knoxville with his wife and sons yesterday. A hashtag trend "#ComeHomeTee" started trending and people began excitedly imagining a sideline with No. 17 back on it.

Hey, I got caught up in it, too.

So why did Martin decide to stay at USC? Was it money? Could it be his kids or wife?

Maybe the return of Biletnikoff Award winner Marquise Lee or the continuing maturity of 5-star Nelson Agholor and 4-stars Xavier Grimble and Randall Telfer had something to do with it.

Because as far as coaching wide receivers goes, Martin is in heaven at USC.

Then there's Lane Kiffin, known by many names in Knoxville, who is still one of the best recruiters in the country. That goes for recruiting coaches, too.

While the news that Martin won't be coming back to Rocky Top is disappointing, my rule is to not get too high or too low about a position coach. The Vols still have their fiery personality at head coach who has already been to recruit in Nashville and is now on his way to Kansas and Florida.

Tennessee can win a championship without Tee.

Been a long morning already, but off to KS & FL to bring the best talent back to #VolNation! Working everyday to #BeAChampion! #VFL
