Kaitlyn and the 10 Most Embarrassing Arrests of WWE Superstars and Divas
By now it is no secret that WWE Diva Kaitlyn has been arrested, and while the circumstances behind the arrest appear to be weirder than fiction, WWE Divas and Superstars getting arrested has been an unofficial rite of passage for members of the WWE roster for years.
Run-ins with the law for WWE stars over the years have ranged from the outlandishly funny to the depressingly tragic, but regardless of what the circumstances behind these arrests were, they have always been embarrassing.
In honor of Kaitlyn joining the WWE's Arrest Hall of Shame, here are the top 10 most embarrassing arrests of WWE Superstars and Divas.
10. Santino
1 of 10In 2008, Santino Marella was arrested on the charges of driving under the influence (via wwe.com) Marella would go on to be released later on a $500 bond.
One can only guess the hilarity that would have ensued if Marella had stayed in character throughout his arrest. However, it is not hard to imagine a drunken Marella trying to convince the police that it was the "cobra" driving the car and not him.
9. Jimmy Uso
2 of 10Proving that the WWE is not the only entity that has no clue what direction to push the Usos, last year in Tampa, Fla., Jimmy Uso was arrested after an officer spotted him driving the wrong direction on a one-way street (via TMZ.com).
The WWE superstar had a .18 blood alcohol level at the time of his arrest—over twice the legal limit in the state of Florida.
8. Wade Barrett
3 of 10In 2008 while still with FCW, Wade Barrett was arrested and charged with the battery of a law enforcement officer (via WrestleNewz.com) following an incident with a female outside a Tampa bar.
Barrett had attacked a man who unfortunately was an officer in street clothes, though in response to this, the "Bare Knuckle Brawler" later replied that had he known the man was an officer, he would not had tried to leave the scene.
The charges against Barrett would later be dropped, but unfortunately for the the Briton, his escapades were recorded in the form of a goofy mugshot.
7. Ted DiBiase Jr.
4 of 10In 2008, Ted DiBiase Jr. was arrested after crashing his vehicle in South Tampa.
According to the Tampa police report, DiBiase had been driving under the influence, making fans everywhere wonder why the son of the "Million Dollar Man" does not have a chauffeur to drive him around around (or the money to call a cab).
Way to break kayfabe (and the law).
6. Lita
5 of 10Last year, Amy Dumas, better known as former WWE Diva Lita, was arrested in Georgia on charges of speeding (via Yahoo Sports) in excess of maximum limits and for driving with a suspended license.
Though the reasons why Lita was speeding were not disclosed, one can only speculate that the former Diva was driving away in fear of the current Divas Division.
5. Eddie Guerrero
6 of 10Known for his cheating and lying in the ring, Eddie Guerrero was no stranger to breaking the rules.
Unfortunately for "Latino Heat," his antics spilled into the real world, and Guerrero was arrested in 2001 after being charged with driving under the influence (via thesmokinggun.com)
Like a true heel, Guerrero plead no contest.
4. Jeff Hardy
7 of 10In 2009, Jeff Hardy was arrested for being in possession of more drugs than a corner pharmacy (via The Post and Courier).
Hardy's charges included trafficking controlled prescription pills and possession of anabolic steroids after authorities found 262 Vicodin pills, 180 soma pills, 555 milliliters of anabolic steroids, residual amounts of powdered cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
Hardy would go on to serve a 10-day jail sentence for his actions.
3. Chris Jericho
8 of 10While there are many WWE Superstars on this list who have been arrested for the consumption of alcohol, the No. 3 spot on this list goes to Chris Jericho, who in January 2010, drank too much Jerichol alongside Gregory Helms.
The two were taken into custody in Kenton County, Ky., under the charges of "alcohol intoxication in a public place" (via TMZ.com)
2. Kaitlyn
9 of 10Unlike other WWE Superstars and Divas, Kaitlyn's arrest is embarrassing—not because she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but instead because she wasn't.
Arrested for a traffic violation (via TMZ.com) Kaityln—whose real name is Celeste Bonin—was taken into the custody of the Kent County Sheriff.
The rising WWE Diva was taken into custody for not paying an old traffic violation that she had been cited for during a previous visit to Michigan.
After the chaos and embarrassment, Kaitlyn was released on a $315 bond. As far as offenses of WWE Superstars and Divas go, this seems to be a pretty simple offense—and frankly, that makes it all the more embarrassing.
We expect more from our criminal superstars, Kaitlyn. Try again. Maybe you can learn from the top member of this list...
1. Big Show
10 of 10Here is some pro-wrestling trivia, can you guess the importance of the following words:
""Well, it's the Big Show. It's a big bad Show tonight...Crank it up, turn on them lights! Get ready for something that you've never known. You won't see it coming, but I promise you'll know."
"
Fans of the wrestler the Big Show know that these are the lyrics to his entrance song, "Crank It Up" by the band Brand New Sin. What you may not know is that these words also describe the alleged actions that led up to the Big Show's 1998 arrest.
Conspiracy?
All jokes aside, the No. 1 most embarrassing arrest goes to the "World's Largest Athlete," who in December 1998, while still part of the WCW roster and wrestling under the name The Giant, was arrested in Memphis, Tenn., for allegedly exposing himself to a female motel employee (via thesmokinggun.com)
The Big Show would later be released because authorities could not find sufficient evidence.
