Manchester United have had one of their biggest weeks ever in the English Premier League with close-fought wins over rivals Chelsea and Arsenal in successive weeks—moving to the top of the table in the process.
United have also seemingly been just as busy off the field in that time, with the Red Devils rumored to be interested in a number of players over the upcoming January transfer window—including a few players already in the squad at United.
Read on to find all the latest Manchester United transfer news, and see who could be coming to or leaving Old Trafford this winter.
The 19-year-old is one of the hottest prospects in England at the moment and looks set to make a move to the top class at some point in his career; whether that is this winter or not all depends on just how much teams are willing to pay.
Palace boss Steve Parish has stated that it would take an offer of at least £20 million for his side to even be interested in selling Zaha.
Veteran Paris St. Germain defender Diego Lugano could provide an interesting transfer option for the Red Devils, who have already suffered a whole host of injuries to key players this season—including captain Nemanja Vidic, and are thought to be interested in the Uruguyuan international.
According to Talksport, the 32-year-old is unhappy with his playing time at the French club after not being named in their Champions League team this year.
United are thought to be considering a short-term offer for Lugano, who would provide cover for the Red Devils defensively until the end of the season.
Speaking of veterans, Manchester United are thought to be delaying contract talks with 38-year-old Ryan Giggs until the end of the season (per Goal.com).
Giggs' contract at the club expires in June and the Red Devils will not begin discussions on any new deal with the midfielder until at least late May, when the season ends—perhaps giving Giggs the option of retiring on his own terms.
The 38-year-old told The Telegraph (h/t Goal) last month that "this could be [my last season]...evaluate after Christmas, see how I feel, see what the manager thinks."
According to The Metro, Manchester United are in hot pursuit of Nordsjaelland defender Jores Okore about a move over the January transfer window after Peter Schmeichel recommended the 20-year-old to United scouts last month.
The 20-year-old's manager has stated that the player is "waiting for a serious offer" to come, and should he receive that offer, will likely move over the January transfer window.
Okore would likely cost around £6 million.
The endless speculation about whether or not Manchester United winger Nani will leave the club over the winter transfer window took another turn after Sir Alex Ferguson criticized the Portuguese international for costing United the win against Chelsea in their mid-week Capital One Cup loss.
The 25-year-old's future at the club has been doubt ever since contract negotiations between the two parties (per The Daily Mail), leaving many to assume that he would be leaving Old Trafford over the January transfer window.
West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has sensationally claimed that the newly promoted Hammers could be interested in bringing back Rio Ferdinand to the club with a bid for the United defender at some point in the future.
The 34-year-old defender began his career at Upton Park and whilst Allardyce did rule out an immediate move for the veteran, he did strongly suggest that he would be interested in landing him at the end of the season in the summer transfer window (per The Daily Mirror).
According to Mario Sampirisi's agent Giuseppe Riso, both Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in landing the defender over the January transfer window (per tuttomercatoweb h/t Goal).
The talented right-back has recently broken into the first team at Genoa with a string of strong performances and has caught the attention of several Premier League teams in the process, as well as Italian and Danish clubs.
The Spanish international told The Sun (h/t Goal):
I am happy at United and not thinking about a return to Spain.
I've accepted the challenge to learn and improve as a professional, and fighting for my place gives me a bigger incentive to play well...
And we wrap up our transfer news with the news that United will face a tough time from Bayer Leverkusen if they seek to make a move for Lars Bender over the January transfer window, as The Daily Mail has suggested.
However, according to The Sun, director Wolfgang Holzhauser stated that the German club would not be selling anyone, which seemingly kills off any bid that the Red Devils were going to make for the £20 million-rated midfielder.
