Welcome to the first edition of the Young Guns Round-Table.
The Round-Table is a collaborative effort by four of the Bleacher Report Sports Writing Interns to discuss pro wrestling. Participating in the inaugural round-table will be B/R Featured Columnist and Hell in a Cell Coverage Team member Michael Prunka and B/R Correspondents Bill Pivetz, Daine Pavloski and Michael Brumagin.
For our first assignment, the Young Guns will be discussing the forthcoming WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view at Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA.
We'll begin by previewing the Divas Championship.
Eve vs. Layla vs. Kaitlyn (Triple Threat Match)
It's no surprise that the WWE Divas division took a huge hit with the loss of Kelly Kelly, Beth Phoenix and the Bella Twins. They've tried to do the best they can with the Divas they have.
Eve is the most talented Diva they have. She is currently the best talker and worker (among the Divas) in the WWE right now.
There was a reason the WWE removed Kaitlyn from the title match at Night of Champions. She hasn't built up a connection with the crowd and isn't ready to hold the Divas Championship.
Eve will retain and continue a singles feud with Layla for the rest of 2012.
In the Divas match, women will yell at each other, someone’s hair will get pulled and I’ll be getting a hot dog from the hot dog vendor in Philips Arena (yes, I'll be there). Nobody spends $55 on a ticket to a pay-per-view to watch the Divas.
If I had to make a prediction, my bet would be that Eve—by hook or by crook—maintains the Divas belt and continues to be the top Diva heel.
My prediction: roast beef. I’ll be making a roast beef sandwich during this match...maybe ham. In all seriousness, it’s no secret that the Divas division is struggling and this match will be no different. We’ll see our usual fair share of hair pulling, high pitched screaming and awkward exchanges between the WWE’s “best” female talent.
Eve will retain the title doing something dastardly to keep the heat with the crowd and retain the butterfly belt....unless Kaitlyn botches for the victory again.
Honestly, there's not much to talk about here. I like the story between the girls, but this match doesn't grab my attention. I expect Eve to retain solely because it's too early in her reign and this story for her to lose.
I do appreciate the effort from Creative, though. If they keep developing this story, maybe I’ll be interested come Survivor Series.
