JW: What are your thoughts on Robert Griffin III?
Lynch: I have interviews each week before our broadcasts with players and coaches. Last week when I first met Robert, I was blown away. He is smart. He is very poised and has an amazing football IQ. Robert might be the most impressive rookie that I have ever interviewed.
I came out of our meeting and I called my wife and told her that I was buying one of his jerseys for my son because he represents everything you want your kid to be. After [five] games, he is quickly becoming one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL. I am not worrying about his running. I know he will figure it out before he is hurt badly.
JW: You played for Mike Shanahan in Denver. What are your thoughts on what he has done in Washington?
Lynch: Mike is the one of the hardest working coaches in football. He took over a mess in Washington, and he is making this team a contender. Look, I think that they are about a year away from being able to challenge the Giants, Cowboys and Eagles for the division title.
Mike got his franchise quarterback. They have a good, young back in Alfred Morris, a potential superstar in tight end Fred Davis and some good wide receivers. Now they need to find some cornerbacks and safeties, either through the draft or via free agency, because that is the last major piece of the puzzle before they can be a consistent NFC contender.
Stockton: This might be the most exciting time in Washington sports because they have three of the most talented stars in sports. Being able to watch RGIII, Bryce Harper and Stephen Strasburg lead their teams to victory makes for a great time for Washington sports fans.
