Brock Lesnar Versus Shane Carwin, Battle of the Behemoths!

Ray JagMar 8, 2009

Shane Carwin just man-handled a top contender who has beat rising stars of the UFC in soundly defeating Gabriel Gonzaga in 1:09 of the first round.

Gonazaga was no pushover. He defeated Mirko Cro Cop with one of the most spectacular knockouts ever in the UFC.

This brings me to the meat of my article. What would the outcome be if he went up against Brock Lesnar?

Would that be a fight or not! Both are 6'3", Lesnar is listed at 265 lbs, although that may be a little light in reality, Carwin is 262 lbs.

Both come from a wrestling background, both are ground and pound with amazing strength and athletic ability. Comments from former fights for both have said that they were shocked how quickly these large men move and how hard they hit.

Now other than Gonzaga Carwin hasn't fought a top name while the three fights Lesnar has were all in the Top 10 heavyweights. Now, yes, Lesnar lost to Frank Mir, but that was his first fight and he didn't have the skills to go against a submission specialist.

If you watch the fight, you can tell that Mir was being overwhelmed and if he didn't luck into the the leg lock due to Lesnar's inexperience Brock would be 3-0.

Now Herring isn't a contender for the title but he does have a lot of experience as does Coulture. These both were defeated by Lesnar showing that his skills are increasing.

Both Lesnar and Carwin are known for their tremendous training routines. Both are known for being incredibly strong. Both of them you're finished if they get on top and ground and pound you.

Who would win? Would Carwin due to having more MMA experience? Would Lesnar due to his size? (Some actually believe he is over 280 lbs but they list him at 265 due to weight limits)

Let me know what you think. I think it would be one of the best heavy weight fights in the UFC in a long time.
