Arsenal EPL News: Arsenal to Offer Arsene Wenger New Contract
Arsenal are reportedly ready to offer manager Arsene Wenger a new contract at the club, with chief executive Ivan Gazidis stating that the veteran manager is the right man to bring in silverware for the North London club.
The 62-year-old's contract expires in 2014 and there had been discussion of retirement and the fact that the Gunners would not renew his contract because of it. However, Gazidis stated that the board and the club are completely behind Wenger and the direction he is taking the club.

"It's not a sense of sentimentalism, not a reward for our serves—it's a belief that we have an incredible manager who loves this club and is the best man to lead us forward.
We’re really confident about the direction that the club is heading. We’re coming through strongly and we believe we’re really well placed. We hope and believe that Arsene will be a part of that as we move forward.
He is written into our DNA.
"
The comments from Gazidis come after another difficult summer transfer window which saw the North London club lose two of their star attacking players in Robin van Persie and Alex Song, leaving many to question whether Wenger was truly the right man for the club.
He did, however, pick up Lukas Podolski, Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla—the latter of which being a steal for just £16 million—and it may well have been those moves that kept in favor with the Gunners faithful, who want nothing more than a trophy to return to the Emirates.
Wenger is currently on a £7 million a-year contract, though it is unknown whether Arsenal will simply extend his current contract or sign him on a new deal.
What is clear is that Wenger does have the support of the club—despite the recent trophy drought that has now extended to seven seasons.
He has been faithful in working towards Financial Fair Play to the extent that he has irked many for putting money before trophies at Arsenal and has proven to be one of the most successful managers in the history of the club.
It seems only fitting that he is allowed to leave the game on his own terms, which for the moment, doesn't seem to be happening any time soon.
In Arsene We Trust, right?
