The Denver Broncos is a franchise with a rich colorful history and an extremely loyal fan base.
Since their inception in 1960 as part of the AFL, the Broncos have experienced both success and failure in their never-ending quest for a Super Bowl Championship.
The "Orange Crush" era of the late 1970s and early 1980s brought fans their first playoff appearance in 1977, which ultimately led to Denver's Super Bowl debut. Unfortunately, this was also the first of many losses in the big game for the Broncos.
1983 ushered in the John Elway era, phase one. Bronco fans were energized and excited for what was in store for the franchise. Up until that point, Denver had a carousel of signal-callers—over 23 in 23 years. Elway provided a sense of stability behind center and led the Broncos to five Super Bowls, coming out victorious in two of them.
When Elway called it quits on his storied career after winning the Super Bowl in 1998, his absence left a huge void in both the hearts and minds of Bronco fans everywhere. Many quarterbacks have tried to come to Denver and fill that hole and have all been unsuccessful—until now.
So what does this new Peyton Manning era mean for Bronco nation? Depending on an individual fan's perspective it may have two distinct meanings.
The Here and Now
Some fans want immediate gratification. With Manning behind center, the Broncos have upgraded their offense tremendously—placing them in a legitimate hunt for a Super Bowl berth.
Where do you stand on the Peyton Manning era?
Loyal fans finally have a quarterback to get behind and believe in. Manning has one of the most brilliant football minds to ever play the game and Denver now has a front row seat for the action.
Some may say that the Broncos are putting all their eggs in one basket, relying heavily on the surgically repaired neck of Manning.
Only time will tell if Peyton Manning is a sound investment; however, the hope and excitement surrounding the future Hall of Famer has already impacted the Broncos fan base in a positive way.
Regardless of the outcome of this season, Peyton Manning is a Denver Bronco.
He has purchased a home in the Denver metro area and is now a part of the community. Manning has a proven track record of philanthropy in Indianapolis, and now Colorado's citizens will benefit from his recent move.
The Colorado youth will be able to grow up with Peyton Manning as the sports figure in town to look up to. Little girls and boys will have a chance to follow his career and emulate what it is to be a bona fide NFL role model.
The young guys on the Broncos' roster will also get a chance to learn from one of the best—setting up a bright future for the organization. Rookie quarterback Brock Osweiler has the opportunity to observe, develop and grow while watching a master of his craft.
Whichever theory you subscribe to as far as Peyton Manning goes, his impact on the Broncos organization can be seen as nothing but positive. A new era is about to begin and the fanatical members of Bronco Nation couldn't be more excited about it.
Peyton manning has brought a level of excitement that has not been this high in Denver since John Elway's playing days. What does this mean to Bronco's fans? Absolutely everything.
