Projecting the Arizona Cardinals' Final 53-Man Roster After Preseason Week 2
Will running back William Powell make the 53-man roster?
Jim Brown-US PRESSWIRE
Every team starts training camp with a maximum of 90 players on their roster. The Arizona Cardinals have their 90 players in camp and will be making their first-round cuts early next week.
Let's take a look at who we think will be on this team when we get down to the final 53-man roster.
QB: Kevin Kolb, John Skelton, Ryan Lindley
Lindley has been coming stronger recently, and Richard Bartel has seen his playing time shrink. But Bartel might still wind up on the practice squad.
RB: Beanie Wells, Ryan Williams, LaRod Stephens-Howling, Alfonso Smith, William Powell, Anthony Sherman (FB)
Wells and Williams are the two main backs, and Powell has been taking advantage of his increased playing time.
WR: Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Roberts, Early Doucet, Michael Floyd, DeMarco Sampson and Jaymar Johnson
The first four are givens, but Sampson and Johnson will have to stand out in the final game of the preseason to earn a spot.
Ryan Lindley feels the pressure from a Titan defender.
Jim Brown-US PRESSWIRE
TE: Todd Heap, Jeff King, Rob Housler
These three tight ends give the Cardinals a chance to utilize the position. Jim Dray hasn't seen much on-field time and is likely to be cut.
OL: Levi Brown, Daryn Colledge, Lyle Sendlein, Adam Snyder, Jeremy Bridges, D'Anthony Batiste, Bobby Massie, Senio Kelemete, Nate Potter, Mike Leach
Brown has a torn triceps muscle and will be out for months, but the team has yet to put him formally on injured reserve. Batiste has shown he can play whatever he is assigned to, and Leach earned a spot as the long snapper.
DL: Calais Campbell, Dan Williams, Darnell Dockett, Vonnie Holliday and Nick Eason
LB: Sam Acho, Paris Lenon, Darryl Washington, O'Brien Schofield, Stewart Bradley, Zach Nash, Clark Haggans, Quentin Groves
Bradley and Nash have done well in the preseason.
DB: Patrick Peterson, Adrian Wilson, William Gay, Kerry Rhodes, Michael Adams, Greg Toler, Blake Gideon, Justin Bethel, Jamell Flemming and A.J. Jefferson
Gideon, Bethel and Flemming have played their way onto the team. Jefferson would be the kick returner if Peterson was unable to do so.
K: Jay Feely
P: Dave Zastudil
