The full WWE' 13 roster will be announced at SummerSlam Fan Axxess, per THQ, and I'm pumped for the announcement. In the meantime, four new screenshots and sets of videos were released.

They feature John Cena, Attitude Era Undertaker, Sheamus and the Big Show. Check them out below.

Also, in a small tid-bit, THQ and WWE 13 will be offering CM Punk Ice Cream Bar t-shirts to people that pre-order the game at selected retailers in the USA and Canada. Here's a picture:

Update: 8/9/2012 by Brian Mazique

Cory Ledesma has to be the hottest name on the video game interview circuit. Here's yet another interview with THQ's WWE Creative Director. There are a few details he expounds upon on previously covered topics.

He answers one question I had in regard to matches pitting the same superstar from different eras against each other.

Check it out:

Also, a new Stone Cold Steve Austin screenshot was released from Smackdown Hotel:

Update: 8/8/2012 by Brian Mazique:

WWE Games released this Developer Q&A with Cory Ledesma on Wednesday. The THQ community had some really great questions for THQ and WWE Games' Creative Director.

The new pinfall system was confirmed. No more pins after an arm drag, unless of course you're lame enough to make that your finishing move.

The probability that a successful pin will take place will be affected by the last move done to the downed wrestler.

Also Ledesma touches on the new respect for weight disparity. Now the light heavyweight-sized superstars will not be able to hoist the super-heavyweights as they were before.

That certainly is a welcomed change. Check out the video for all of the details:

What do you think of the pinball system and respect to weight disparity?

The Undertaker sends Mankind for a ride off the top of the Hell in a Cell.

CM Punk shows off the new dynamic cameras as he leaps out at an injured Chris Jericho, and Steve Austin stomps a mud-hole in Mankind.

Here's what we know so far:

The Cover Superstar and Theme

image from THQ

Was CM Punk being chosen as the cover star a hint that he would be turning heel? It seems like it now as the game's theme is an ode to the Attitude Era.

Punk may be about to remind us just what the WWE was like when Attitude ruled.

The Roster

Judging by all of the empty spots on the WWE '13 roster page, the collection of playable superstars promises to be a rather robust one. As of now, the following stars are confirmed to be included in the retail version:

  • Nation of Domination Mark Henry
  • The Miz
  • John Cena
  • Mike Tyson
  • Stone Cold Steve Austin
  • Undertaker
  • Sheamus
  • Mankind
  • Current Mark Henry
  • CM Punk
  • Chris Jericho
  • Big Show

There are still 66 empty slots. Check out the entire roster page here. Also check back here for details as the remaining roster is revealed.

The Game Engine, New Gameplay Features & Sound

image from THQ
image from THQ

The game engine uses the Predator 2.0 technology and it should provide the most fluid and lifelike action ever seen in a WWE video game.

WWE '13 will feature hellacious moves like super-plexes to the concrete, super-plexes that collapse the ring, and new catch-and-counter finishers.

If this recently released trailer is any indication things are looking good.

The chaining of moves and action is what makes for awesome real-life in-ring action, and this engine seems to simulate it well.

WWE '13 will also utilize the WWE Live feature. This is a sound enhancement designed to better capture the authentic sounds of an arena during a WWE event.

There is also a new dual-commentating team option. Gamers can choose the Attitude Era team of Jim Ross and Jerry "The King" Lawler, or the current team of Lawler and Michael Cole.

Game Modes

Per THQ, gamers have the ability to play through WWE Universe 3.0, an enhancement of the popular feature from the last two WWE games. There's also the ability to play through the Attitude Era as one of eight key superstars from the time.

Community Creations will also return.

Hopefully the servers will be a little more kind to the community than they were for WWE '12. There were some awesome creations available, and I'll highlight some of them after WWE '13 is released.

Last but not least is the return of the Special Referee match. Fans have wanted it and THQ has delivered. It was confirmed by Cory LeDesma, the Creative Director for WWE games with THQ via Twitter:

DLC and Pre-Order Bonuses

image from THQ

There's almost certainly going to be downloadable content. The details haven't been revealed, but a collector's edition/pre-order bonus has been revealed.

The "Austin 3:16" edition will have tons of Stone Cold in-game content like attires, signature entrances a playable version of Mike Tyson and more. It will also include an autographed art card, t-shirt and other goodies.

These extras are only available to those that pre-order.

This trailer outlines the details:

As more DLC options become available I'll have them for you.

It's going to be a fun next three months as the information begins to come out. Keep it locked to the top of this page for the latest.
