This time of year, rumors about possible transfers in the Premier League are all over the place. You just never know what's going to happen next, who's going to sign where and when it's going to happen. It's totally unpredictable, as any soccer fan fully knows.
So, who is Arsenal currently looking at to join their team for next season? There are numerous players on their radar, all of which would help them win the Premier League next season. They had the third best record last year, so they're close to getting on top.
Here are some players who can help them get there faster.
Santi Cazorla is a very talented midfielder who currently plays in La Liga for Malaga. At 27 years old, Malaga is entering the prime of his career as a footballer and is rightfully drawing a lot of interest from Arsenal's management.
Cazorla could immediately be injected into the starting lineup and could be a threat to score at all times, something that Arsenal lacked last season from the midfield. And despite reports from the UK Metro News that Malaga has ruled out sending Cazorla to Arsenal, don't count it out just yet.
How many times in any type of sport have teams said they weren't going to deal a player, only to get a different offer and re-open their negotiation talks? There's still a good chance it happens, so don't entirely rule out Cazorla playing in an Arsenal uniform next season.
Ganso is an excellent young Brazilian player who could help Arsenal win right away. According to ESPN, Arsenal is one of a number of EPL teams with strong interest in acquiring the 22-year-old midfielder. Ganso probably hasn't even hit his peak yet as a footballer, but he's a terrific player and is maybe even a better fit for Arsenal than Santi Cazorla would be.
The business terms would still have to be worked out, and with numerous teams interested, Ganso probably won't be signed until after the London Olympics. Ganso does carry some injury risk, but it's worth taking the chance to sign a guy with his level of skill.
If you're an Arsenal fan, definitely hope this deal pushes through before the 2012-2013 season.
Yup, yet another midfielder. Ibrahim Afellay would be a great addition to Arsenal's midfield. He's 26 years old and is an aggressive, attacking midfielder who has the flexibility to play winger as well. Of all the players on this list, Afellay could make the most impact right away.
And if Arsene Wenger knows what's good for this team, he'll move quickly and try to get this deal done as quickly as possible before other clubs jump on the Afellay bandwagon. And with the possible departure of Theo Walcott, Afellay would either give this team depth or give them more talent in the starting lineup.
It's a win-win either way. Arsenal has to sign this guy, plain and simple.
