Aaron Berry Arrested: Detroit Lions DB Arrested Again
Another NFL player was arrested this weekend in what's becoming a growing issue for the league over the last few weeks. The latest player in trouble with the law is Aaron Berry of the Detroit Lions, who was arrested for a DUI in June (via ABC 7).
Per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press:
"Cornerback Aaron Berry was arrested for the second time in a month early Saturday morning and charged with three counts of simple assault for allegedly brandishing a firearm, Harrisburg (Pa.) City Police said.
Berry’s arrest is the seventh by Lions players in seven months this offseason. Rookies and injured players are scheduled to report for training camp on Monday, and practice begins Friday.

The Lions have released a short statement regarding Berry's situation (via Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com).
"Lions statement on Aaron Berry arrest: "We are extremely disappointed by the reports involving Aaron Berry."

If the Lions ever want to be a top contender in the NFC, they must eliminate these off-the-field issues and distractions.
They cannot have their young players getting into trouble with the law and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell so early in their careers.
Berry joins Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch and Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant as the latest notable NFL players to be arrested in the month of July.
Since Berry has been arrested two times in such a short amount of time, it's entirely possible that he is suspended by Commissioner Goodell.
Berry played in 11 games for the Lions last season and had 31 tackles with 11 passes defended.
