South Carolina kicks off the annual SEC Media Days in Hoover, Ala. today, keeping SEC football fans on the edge of their seats awaiting the wise and often quirky statements that will arrive from Steve Spurrier

Twitter reactions will be priceless, and analysis will flow surrounding the Gamecocks and the first day of Media Days right here.

When Spurrier landed in Columbia, SC., a lot of people thought that he couldn’t succeed, despite his past success at Florida. Since 2005, Spurrier has loudly brought the Gamecocks into the discussion every year in the SEC East.

This year is expected to be no different, with the Gamecocks having a good shot at the SEC East for 2012. With Spurrier, Ace Sanders, D.J. Swearinger and Connor Shaw on the docket for the day, there are sure to be noteworthy statements and reactions to come.

This will be your guide to all things Gamecocks from SEC Media Days.

The Four Team Playoff Favors the SEC

Matt Hayes @Matt_HayesSN points out that Spurrier is confident that the winner of the SEC could be contenders for the four team playoff with a win in Atlanta.

The next question should’ve been, “what if you win the division and lose the game in Atlanta?” Would he counter his previous statements today about winning the conference?

That may be a tough answer for Spurrier—then again, he may have stood tall and said “we shouldn’t go.” Who knows, but his podium time was priceless.

Winning Championships Comes with the Territory

And it has happenened—Spurrier landed a nice quote for everyone out there in SEC land. According to Joe Schad @schadjoe, winning the national title is easier than the SEC.

Just ask Nick.

Is it just me or is that a bit of an underbelly shot? Thanks coach—glad you made the trip. Spurrier 1, The Rest 0.

Lattimore Back to Normal

Is Lattimore back? Ace Sanders thinks he is.

According to Saturday Down South @SDS, Ace Sanders says that Lattimore is “the same as…before the injury.”

Watch out SEC, the Latt-truck is back.

According to Barrett Sallee @barrettsallee, Spurrier is giving A&M and Mizzou some love in the division title talk.

Spurrier will be the first—and likely only coach—to utter those words. You have to admit, Spurrier will tell it how it is, but he also likes to blow smoke every now and then. Something good must be coming soon.

Stay tuned.

Spurrier Already Working the Crowd

Spurrier is known as a crowd pleaser—today will be no different. He already has gotten started with some football signings. Brad Marquardt @bradthejag mentions how Spurrier is making the rounds:

I wonder how long it takes them to land on Ebay?

All jokes aside, Spurrier is a walking legend in the SEC and college football. Him making stops shows why being a coach in the SEC is more than winning ballgames—you need to have a little personality to survive.

Can’t Wait for Spurrier

Everyone knows who will be the best speaker today in Hoover—Steve Spurrier. Coach Kevin Sumlin will take the podium first, mixing up the schedule laid out before today arrived.

Despite the new Texas A&M coach taking the podium first, Spurrier is still getting the attention he deserves.

According to Chuck Carlton @ChuckCarltonDMN, Spurrier will be fun to watch:

I agree, Spurrier will be fun to watch. Shameless honesty at its finest.
