Alabama Football Recruiting 2013: 4-Star WR Wisely Names Tide in Top 2 Schools

Wes ODonnellJun 5, 2018

The Alabama Crimson Tide have lost only six games in the last four years because Nick Saban and his staff know exactly how to get not only what they want, but what they need.

That doesn't mean it always works out for every recruit who commits to play for the reigning national champions, but if a player is meant to be there, they have a great chance to succeed.

Unanimous 4-star receiver Taj Williams of Lincoln High School (Tallahassee, Florida) could easily be one of those players that succeeds in Tuscaloosa, and according to Chad Simmons of Scout.com, he's listed the Tide as one of his top two schools.

The Tide are a run-first team, but they're always looking for playmakers on the outside, and Williams, at 6'4", is not a normal playmaker.

He plays both sides of the ball for his high school team, but he'll star as a receiver at the next level. Alabama brought in only two wide receivers (three depending on where Cyrus Jones plays) in its 2012 recruiting class, and all were 6'1" or smaller.

So far in their 2013 class, they've seen two wide receiver recruits and one athlete who'll likely line up at wide receiver commit. Two of the three, ArDarius Stewart and Deon Johnson, are 6'1" or smaller. The third is 6'4" receiver Raheem Falkins, who ESPN grades one point lower than Williams

The number of offers a player receives doesn't foreshadow success, but Falkins has only three other offers to Williams' 15, and Williams' includes the likes of USC, Notre Dame, Miami, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech and his No. 2 school South Carolina.

It appears that Williams is the better overall prospect, and he should have no fear of competing with another big receiver for time.

South Carolina signed three receivers in its 2012 class and have one committed so far in 2013. The Gamecocks are a solid fit too, but South Carolina isn't Alabama. Depending on what Williams is looking for, though, he can't go wrong with either.

That said, he'd fit in at Alabama and would have a chance to make an impact as well.

If Williams chooses to "Roll Tide," it would be a great opportunity for him.
