Todd Haley Will Interview With Kansas City Chiefs

Jordan LanningCorrespondent IFebruary 3, 2009

It has been two days since the Super Bowl, and the Kansas City Chiefs are the only team in the NFL without a head coach.

It looks more and more like the Arizona Cardinals offensive coordinator Todd Haley will become the next head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs have been granted permission from the Cardinals to interview Haley for the coaching job.

If Todd Haley becomes the head coach, the Chiefs' offense will receive a big-time boost.

Haley has been able to work with one of the best receiving corps in the history of the NFL.  It included Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin.  This combination resulted in one of the best offenses in the NFL.

Would Scott Pioli have gone after Haley if the Cardinals didn't make the playoffs, or lost in the first round?

I guess we will never know, but we still have to wonder.

I hope that Pioli isn't going after Haley just because he is the guy everyone is talking about. Knowing Pioli, I firmly believe there must be something great about this guy, or Pioli wouldn't be talking to him.

If Todd Haley gets hired, will quarterback Kurt Warner follow him here? The Chiefs will be getting a new starting quarterback, but I think he will be a little younger. Remember, the Chiefs are "rebuilding."

Also electing free agency is Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin. I wouldn't be surprised if he followed Haley to Kansas City and played opposite of Dwayne Bowe.

Could the Chiefs trade for Matt Cassel? Yes, but they would have to give up a lot to get him. Cassel will most likely receive the franchise tag, but the New England Patriots will still be answering phone calls about him.

Will the Chiefs draft Matthew Stafford or Mark Sanchez? It looks like both of these guys will be available at No. 3. Stafford would be the guy if the Chiefs are going to draft a quarterback.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Chiefs trade down—maybe with the 49ers? They need a quarterback, and they would love to get Stafford.

Nonetheless, there are many changes that will be taking place, and a lot of new guys will be Chiefs next season.
