Pacers vs. Heat Game 2: Dwyane Wade's Comments Prove Heat Are Sore Losers

Jun 7, 2018

After pulling out a gritty 78-75 Game 2 victory over the Miami Heat, the Indiana Pacers did a bit of celebrating.

From a fan’s perspective, it didn’t look excessive at all.

While the Pacers’ post-game festivities didn’t appear to be anything significant, the Miami Heat felt differently. The Heat have taken note and will apparently use this tension as motivation moving forward; or at least that’s what they want people to believe.

The team could just be full of sore losers.

Dwyane Wade spoke postgame about Indiana’s "excessive" celebration and their supposed self-comparisons to the Dallas Mavericks last season:

"

I heard they wanted to be like the Dallas Mavericks, in a sense. I saw their little celebration at the end of (Game 2). I don't know if they didn't expect to win, but every night we go out on the court, we expect to win. They say their identity, they say they want to be like Dallas. So they celebrated like Dallas, I guess.

"

No one on earth likes to lose and it’s easy to be frustrated after a loss, but the Miami Heat are always putting their collective foot in their mouth by complaining like this. People don’t want to hear the best players on the best team whining about things that don’t have any bearing on the outcome of games.

What the fans really don’t want to hear is that the post-game celebration will motivate them.

Last time I checked this was the NBA postseason; if the Heat and Dwyane Wade need more motivation, they will never win an NBA Championship.

All this talk from the Heat won’t scare Indiana, though.

Pacers’ forward Paul George told FOX Sports Florida about his feeling on Wade’s comments and the perception that the team celebrated too much:

"

If that's what he wants to fuel this loss, they should come out just the fact that we came here and took a win from them, but we won this like we weren't surprised. We won it, and went right to the locker room. I think it's an excuse. We won this game fair and square. We walked off and went to the locker room and now we're ready to get out of here. ...  It's the same way when they won (Game 1). They celebrated, so we just did the same thing.

"

Just like on the court in Game 2, it’s great to see a team standing up to a Miami Heat team that is catered to wherever they go.

This young Pacers squad has the mindset of their president of basketball operations and hard-nosed NBA legend, Larry Bird; they aren’t afraid of anyone.

If Miami wants to fix the problem, the team needs to sit down with all of the players not named LeBron James or Dwyane Wade, and tell them the games already started and they are more than welcome to get involved. In Game 2, the Heat’s lack of depth was on full display.

The Heat must stop blaming things on everyone else and just take credit for their mistakes and faults.

Instead of searching for bulletin board material from a young Pacers team, the Miami Heat should have enough in the tank from an NBA Championship loss in terms of motivation to drive them for a full career.

All this talk just furthers their "Sore Loser" image.
