Welcome to my new series, The Top 5. With each edition, I will present five superstars who best fit the edition's topic.

In this edition, I will present the five superstars who I think are the best possible opponents for Cody Rhodes' Intercontinental Championship.

As always, your opinions and comments are welcome.

Christian

It would be pretty easy for the WWE to have Christian come back as a fan favorite. Yes, when he briefly returned earlier this year, he was a heel but that can was then and this is now. A Cody Rhodes/Christian feud would be pretty interesting.

Both men are good on the mic and are obviously great in-ring competitors. Plus, giving Cody an opponent with the resume of Christian will not only help elevate him to main event caliber, but also keep the Intercontinental Championship as a valued title.

This feud would be something new for both men. The last time Christian faced Cody Rhodes was August 10th, 2010.

Randy Orton

Even though Orton is a current main-eventer, having him face Cody Rhodes would be a good use of his time. With Orton being one of the competitors in the Fatal 4 Way match at the Over the Limit pay-per-view for Sheamus' World Heavyweight Championship, Orton would need a feud should he lose.

So, having him face off against Rhodes would not only give Orton a useful storyline, but also make the Intercontinental Championship seem like a big deal again.

If a main event superstar like Randy Orton is fighting for the title, then it would certainly look more valuable. The last time Randy Orton took on Cody Rhodes in singles competition was November 1, 2011 in a street fight on SmackDown.

The Miz

Yes, Miz is a heel right now, but he has been a heel for a very long time and turning him face would be good for him. There is a lack of big time face superstars and Miz has potential to be a great one. Turn him face and have him take on Rhodes for the title.

Is it something new? Cody Rhodes has never faced The Miz one-on-one. I believe both men would benefit from this feud and I think it would be very enjoyable.

Ted DiBiase

These two have a long history with each other. Going back to their Legacy years, Rhodes and DiBiase were young up-and-coming stars.

Many people thought DiBiase would be the one who would make it big in the WWE. To date, DiBiase has not lived up to his potential. Bringing back DiBiase to feud with Rhodes would be interesting.

The WWE could even bring in the two superstars legendary parents to spice up the feud. Have each legend manage his son and have the feud culminate at one of the big four pay-per-views.

Just a suggestion.

Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio should have been back in the WWE ring by now, but his return has been delayed due to his failure to adhere to the WWE Substance Abuse Policy. Mysterio is an old veteran, but is still a good in-ring competitor.

Rhodes and Mysterio have opposite styles of wrestling, but they can put on some good matches together. They have faced off many times in the past, but have not met inside the ring for over a year.

Mysterio is getting older and will not have many active years ahead of him. Having him put over younger talent like Rhodes will be the best use of his time.
