Kansas City Chiefs Free Agency: Quarterback Brady Quinn Signs with Chiefs

Farzin VousoughianJun 2, 2018

Just minutes following the signing of offensive tackle Eric Winston, the Chiefs picked up quarterback Brady Quinn. This move comes off as intriguing to many people, as the Chiefs have been seeking quarterback competition for Matt Cassel.

In Quinn’s 12 career starts, all of them as a member of the Cleveland Browns, he has only won three games. Quinn’s two-year career in Denver was very quiet, as he did not have a chance at seeing the gridiron in a Broncos uniform while Kyle Orton and Tim Tebow shined.

For Quinn, reuniting with his offensive coordinator from Cleveland, Brian Daboll, will be the key for him as he tries to resurrect his career. Quinn knows what kind of offense Daboll will run. Therefore, Quinn will know what is expected of him and he will have a better understanding of everything.

Better yet, as Cassel tries to bounce back, Quinn can display and work on his leadership skills by helping Cassel understand some of the terminology Daboll uses.

Quinn may not be the Chiefs starting quarterback in Week 1. However, if Cassel goes down with another injury, the Chiefs now have a solid option at quarterback. Again, with Quinn's past experience in a Daboll offense, it could give him the ability to lead the KC offense if his number is called.
