Open Letter to Peyton Manning from Denver Broncos Nation

Dear Peyton Manning,

Go ahead. Just do it. 

C'mon over and sign with the Denver Broncos already.

You know you want to. 

Where else do you have the chance to become the true successor to the Legend of John Elway? 

You can be "The One" for whom Broncos fans have patiently waited since Elway retired in 1999 after leading Denver to consecutive Super Bowl titles.

Sure, there have been more than a handful of quarterbacks to suit up in the orange and blue over the course of the past decade, including a few pretty good ones in Brian Griese, Jake Plummer and Jay Cutler. 

Pro Bowlers, those three, but none up to the task of replacing Mr. Elway's legend.

The same Mr. Elway who tweeted how good you looked during your workout today and who is reportedly ready to give you $90 million over the next five years.

Tebow-mania may have been the biggest story in sports last year, but that was a by-product of the Fox News hype-machine and, well, we just can not have a 47 percent passer leading the Donkeys for another season.

But you, Peyton Manning, have a chance to do what no other Broncos quarterback has successfully accomplished since Mr. Elway left the building and came back as a suit.

You, Mr. Manning, have a chance to bring validity to the Broncos' chances to win again at the highest level.

You, Mr. Manning, can bring your Hall of Fame pedigree and the skills that have made you into a Top Five all-time quarterback and the best passing quarterback to have ever played the game.

You, Mr. Manning, have the opportunity to lead the Denver Broncos back to glory once again and to assert yourself as the greatest quarterback to have ever played the game.

You, Mr. Manning, can become greater than the face of the Broncos' organization, himself, John Elway.

So please, Mr. Manning, I implore you.

Take the money.  Sign with the Denver Broncos.  And lead us back to glory.
