WWE WrestleMania 27: Top 10 Moments from Last Year's Show

It was just about one year ago that we were getting ready for WrestleMania in Atlanta. There were tons of huge matches set, and the electricity was certainly in the air.

For myself, I enjoyed the event! It was more than worth the price of purchase, and I hope this year is even better! Over the next few weeks, I will be looking back at past Mania events. Let's begin, shall we?

10. The Corre?

Kane, Big Show, Santino Marella, and Kofi Kingston defeated The Corre in a tag team match.

The Corre?

Yes, Wade Barrett, Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater and Ezekiel Jackson all got a spot on Mania last year. They lost in about a minute, but they still made a small appearance

9. Cody Rhodes Wins

Cody Rhodes beat Rey Mysterio in the second match of the night.

It was a huge win for Cody at the time, and I have my doubts he picks up another victory next month at the biggest stage of them all.

That being said, Rey Rey and Rhodes both worked hard here. The right man won the match, and their entire feud was well done!

8. Orton vs. Punk

This was another very nice feud.

Randy Orton had been battling the Nexus for awhile. Then CM Punk took over the group and deemed them the "New Nexus."

In the end, it was a waste of time for both men. However, they did have some great matches, and the right man went over again.

Excellent, WWE!

7. Snooki

The official match was John Morrison, Trish Stratus and Snooki vs. Dolph Ziggler, and Laycool. Vickie Guerrero was also ringside to support her team.

While this seemed like a standard "celebrity" match for WWE, it was a lot more.

This was another chance to see Trish on the grand stage. This was a huge spot for Dolph, it was the final PPV event with Laycool together, and it also sealed Morrison's future.

All in all, this was about Snooki wrestling. Deny it all you want, but she was focus here.

She did a fine job, picked up the victory, and will be in the WWE Hall of Fame one day.

6. Cole vs. Lawler

I loved this feud.

From November to April, these two did a wonderful job. If only their match at WrestleMania would have only lasted two minutes and resulted in a Jerry Lawler win...

No. It dragged on and on for far too long and almost killed the crowd.

Michael Cole somehow picked up a win, and Stone Cold did nothing as special guest referee. Jack Swagger did fine in the corner of Cole, but this feud needed to end here.

It didn't. After this, it was all downhill!

5. Edge Retains

Edge was the World Champion.

Alberto Del Rio won the Royal Rumble.

It was a very easy story to write, and WWE did a nice job building this up. While it could be argued the result was wrong, I won't.

Edge won and soon after retired. Del Rio ended up getting more than enough shine on Raw throughout the year. Nobody was damaged here, and Brodus Clay, Ricardo, and Christian all added to the match outside the ring.

For an opening match, this was a top notch spectacle. With a card filled with so many matches, somebody big had to be the first match. WWE made the correct decision.

4. Extras

1. The WWE Hall of Fame class last year was fine with Shawn Michaels, Drew Carey and Sunny. Other than that, I really did not have a lot of interest in the inductees. They all deserved it, but I admit to it being an underwhelming group.

2. Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler ended up calling the second half of the show. With Michael Cole, Booker T, and Josh Matthews being taken out by Steve Austin, this was a nice move. The two as an announcing team are all but over, but hearing them one last time was a welcome surprise!

3. I had no issues with Sheamus and Daniel Bryan moving to the dark match before the PPV started. Both were the "rookies" in the company, so if any match was bumped due to time, it had to be that one.

Others will argue, but that is how seniority works in life. They were new and would get plenty of more opportunities. One year later, who cares that their United States title match was moved and turned into a battle royal won by Great Khali?

Both are in the World Title match and doing great. It is just yet another example of being "patient" and not using ridiculous terms like "buried" in this business.

4. Finally, I watched this show on a huge high-definition television set surrounded by a great group of people. For everybody that was surely down on this show, where did you watch it?

I do not want to assume. However, I would bet that most fans would rather watch a WWE show with food, drinks, people, and a nice TV over a blurry, illegal streamed show on an Internet screen.

Just my opinion!

3. Miz Pins Cena

This WWE Championship match was fine.

It was nothing amazing, but it did its job. Just like Orton vs. HHH in 2009, this match got a bad reputation before it even started.

I actually gave John Cena and The Miz a chance, and they had a good match.

The only problem was fans were just sitting around waiting for Rocky to come out. We all knew it wouldn't end until The Rock came out, thus it took away from the excitement.

By the finale of the match, Miz pinned Cena thanks to Rock. Whether it was great or not, it didn't matter. Miz beat Cena in the main event of WrestleMania.

2. 19-0

What more needs to be said?

Undertaker defeated Triple H in an excellent match. Outside of Punk vs. Cena in the summer, this was match of the year in WWE.

Shawn Michaels was not needed last year, just as I see no reason for him to be involved this year. These two are more than capable of putting on a great match all by themselves.

In the end, Taker made The Game tap out, and a re-match was immediately signed. One year later, we are going to see it!

1. The Rock

The Rock was the guest host of WrestleMania 27, and he was the main attraction of this show.

There is a reason this was the second most-purchased WWE PPV of all time! Yes, in the history of the company, this was ranked No. 2 behind Mania in 2007.

A lot of that credit goes to The Rock.

Just as he carried the show last year, he will do the same this year. Hopefully, he can do the same next year as well. In a time where WWE needs as much profit as possible, The Rock will always be welcomed back to WWE!

He was in backstage segments, in-ring segments and even got involved in the main event. This was The Rock's WrestleMania, and numbers certainly do not lie.

Fans wanted to see him back, and they all paid to do just that. If I had to grade the event a year later, I would fall in the B+ range. Many of the matches were great, and I made countless memories watching.
