Randy Moss: Saints Wasting Their Time Working out Washed Up WR

Richard LangfordJun 7, 2018

Randy Moss' time as an NFL receiver has come and gone. Teams are free to work him out, but it is a silly waste of time. The Saints are about to learn this.

The word on the street is that the Saints have enough interest in Moss to work him out.

Fox Sports' Jay Glazer tweeted out the news of the workout.

Why Moss is a Waste of Time

Moss has a huge problem in his comeback bid. He never learned how to be a real receiver.

This didn't keep him from being a dominant receiver earlier in his career. He used his speed, hops and hands to get open deep and make huge plays. Lots of them.

Guess what Moss doesn't have anymore? Yep, speed. Moss is 35, and he just took a year off from the sport.

He hasn't magically gotten faster. And he wasn't burning past anyone last time he was on the field.

In his last season, he caught a meager 28 passes for 398 yards, and his longest reception was for 38 yards.

As a receiver ages, they have to use their route-running ability to get open. Moss doesn't have route-running ability. This is a player that probably thinks a route tree can be found in the desert next to the Joshua tree.

Now that his speed is gone, he has nothing to fall back on, and this leaves him worthless to NFL clubs.
