2012 NBA Mock Draft: Pick-by-Pick Predictions for All 30 Teams

Matt ShetlerJun 7, 2018

As we prepare for one of the most exciting week's of the college basketball season, all eyes will be on the conference tournaments.

The eyes of NBA scouts will on potential NBA prospects as Championship Week gets underway.

With that being said, this is the beginning of a big five week stretch for NBA hopefuls to go out and make a statement.

Let's take a look at our latest 2012 NBA Mock Draft. You can also take a look at who's moved up and down by taking a look at last week's mock as well.

As they've been almost all season long, the Charlotte Bobcats are on the clock, so let's get right into it.

1. Charlotte Bobcats: Anthony Davis, Kentucky

1 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 14.4 PPG, 9.8 RPG, 4.7 BPG

Davis has been sitting at the top of the big board for some time now and this week is no different.

Even Michael Jordan won't be able to screw this pick up.

Davis should provide immediate impact on the defensive end and has the ability to be a game-changer.

Charlotte has a major issue stopping teams and Davis helps in that department immediately.

He's not all defense though as he has a good offensive game and very good footwork in the post for a young kid.

Davis is shooting 66 percent from the floor in what will be his only collegiate season and while he will need to develop more NBA-type post moves at the next level, the foundation is there.

2. Washington Wizards: Harrison Barnes, North Carolina

2 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 17.4 PPG, 5.1 RPG

The futility of the Wizards have bumped them up a spot to the No. 2 pick, but they still go with Barnes regardless.

They need a scorer a weapon for point guard John Wall and Barnes has the talent to be an NBA team's primary scoring option.

He can score from anywhere at any time and could be exactly the shot in the arm that Washington needs.

3. New Orleans Hornets: Andre Drummond, Connecticut

3 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 10.2 PPG, 7.8 RPG, 2.6 BPG

New Orleans also still gets the guy they want in Drummond despite moving down a spot in the draft.

He's got an NBA body and a very solid back-to-the-basket game.

Drummond has size and length and his athleticism makes him surprisingly agile for his size.

The rebuilding Hornets need a potentially dominant big man and they can't go wrong with the upside of Drummond.

4. New Jersey Nets: Thomas Robinson, Kansas

4 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 18.0 PPG, 11.9 RPG

Despite the Nets having Kris Humphries at the 4, we still give the New Jersey Robinson.

Humphries will be a free agent next year likely commanding a big raise and Robinson is one of the most NBA-ready prospects in the nation.

Robinson can play the game above the rim, but is also very physical on the block as well.

He's got a fantastic future ahead of him with a tremendous upside.

5. Detroit Pistons: Arnett Moultrie, Mississippi State

5 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 16.1 PPG, 10.7 RPG

It's very tough not to give the Pistons Kentucky's Michael Kidd-Gilchrist here, but we like giving them the Mississippi State big man Moultrie here to pair with Greg Monroe down the road.

He's a legit prospect with tremendous size and length that can score from both the inside and the outside.

Moultie's also plenty athletic enough to put the ball on the deck to get to the rim.

6. Toronto Raptors: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Kentucky

6 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 11.9 PPG, 7.8 RPG

Kidd-Gilchrist almost has it all as a prospect.

Offensively he can get to the rim with ease and is a very smooth player with a high basketball IQ.

Defensively you don't find many kids as young as MKG that attack the defensive end in the fashion that he does.

His perimeter shot needs some work, but that will likely come with time.

7. Sacramento Kings: Jared Sullinger, Ohio State

7 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 16.9 PPG, 9.3 RPG

There's been some doubts recently about Sullinger as he's disappeared in a few Ohio State losses, but for now he still stays at No. 7 to the Kings.

Paired with DeMarcus Cousins, the Kings could have a great frontcourt for years.

Sullinger is a skillful big man who can play the game very physical on the block, but also can finish with finesse around the rim.

8. Cleveland Cavaliers, Jeremy Lamb, Connecticut

8 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 17.6 PPG, 4.6 RPG

If this wasn't an extraordinarily deep draft, Lamb would be a top three pick. he's got that type of talent.

Lamb is similar to Barnes in a way that he can create his own shot at any time. he's very gifted on the offensive end an paired with Kyrie Irving, Cleveland will have a very exciting backcourt for a very long time.

9. Milwaukee Bucks:

9 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 14.4 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 2.0 APG

Beal is a pure shooter who will help the Bucks a ton.

Similar to Cleveland picking ahead of them, Milwaukee can solidify their backcourt for the next several years by pairing Beal with point guard Brandon Jennings.

He's not only a great shooter, but he's got good size which helps him rebound and play at the defensive end of the floor very effectively.

10. Utah Jazz (via Golden State): Kendall Marshall, North Carolina

10 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 7.2 PPG, 9.6 RPG, 1.3 SPG

Marshall has been on the rise up the big board for the past few months and cracks the Top 10 this week.

He has the ability to control an offense and keep everyone involved. Marshall can effectively run any type of system but excels pushing the basketball.

He's got the rare gift to make everyone better on the floor when he's out there.

Marshall has to work on his offensive game and show a better commitment on the defensive end, but Utah could use a point guard for the future and he could turn out to be the best floor general in this year's crop.

11. Phoenix Suns: Perry Jones, Baylor

11 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 13.1 PPG, 7.5 RPG

Jones has the ability to play the 3 or the 4, but he's going to be a small forward in the NBA.

He's got the talent of a top five pick, but doesn't always bring that talent out on a nightly basis.

He runs like a deer and can jump through the roof, but there are questions surrounding him which as a result has seen him stay out of the Top 10 for a third straight week.

His upside is enormous and if he ever plays like his skill set says he should on a consistent basis, he could provide a ton of production on the wing for the Suns.

12. Utah Jazz: Austin Rivers, Duke

12 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 15.3 PPG, 3.2 RPG

With Utah already having a solid frontcourt in Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson, and their frontcourt of the future in Enes Kanter and Derrick Favors, they can really solidify their future by nabbing their backcourt of the future.

By already selecting their point guard in Marshall, they take Duke's Rivers here, which may be a bit of a reach, but one that should pay off.

He's a pure scorer who can get his shot at anytime and while he can create for himself. Rivers is a better catch and shoot guy.

With a point guard that can get him the ball where he likes it, Rivers could be capable of big things in Utah.

13. Portland Trail Blazers: Cody Zeller, Indiana

13 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 15.4 PPG, 6.4 RPG

There's plenty of places Portland can go here, but it's going to be a deep draft of big men and the younger Zeller could be the most promising of them all at this point in the draft.

Zeller has a great feel for the game and keeps things simple and just takes what the defense gives him.

He's got a very good mid-range game for a young guy parlayed with a very soft touch at the rim.

He's got the skill set already to make himself a very solid NBA big at the offensive end.

14. New Orleans Hornets (via Minnesota from Clippers): Tony Wroten, Washington

14 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 16.3 PPG, 4. RPG, 3.7 APG, 2.0 SPG

Wroten's stock has been on the rise and he sneaks into the lottery for the first time this season.

He's an athletic combo-guard who really can do it all.

Wroten has a solid perimeter game and can get to the rim easily. he's an excellent passer who can also rebound and play defense effectively.

15. Houston Rockets (via New York): Tyler Zeller, North Carolina

15 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 16.3 PPG, 9.7 RPG

The older Zeller could be the big that the Rockets are coveting, assuming they can't swing a deal for Pau Gasol.

He's strong on the post and can get above the rim as well.

Zeller is also a very good rebounder and has the skill set to forge a productive NBA career.

16. Boston Celtics: Terrence Ross, Washington

16 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 15.3 PPG, 6.7 RPG

Ross understands the game, as he's excellent moving without the ball.

When he has the ball in his hands, he's an excellent leaper that also has a tremendous shooting touch.

He also rebounds well for a guard and can hold his own on the defensive end of the floor.

The Celtics are going to have to replace Ray Allen and passing on Ross will be tough to do.

17. Denver Nuggets: John Henson, North Carolina

17 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 14.2 PPG, 10.3 RPG, 3.0 BPG

Sometimes the draft falls a certain way and lucky for the Nuggets, Henson falls to them at No. 17, which could turn into a steal.

You can't have enough athletic big men and Henson fits the bill of a potentially young, athletically gifted dominant big man.

He blocks shots and covers the court on the defensive end very easily and Henson has extraordinary leaping ability.

18. New Jersey Nets (via Houston): Terrence Jones, Kentucky

18 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 12.3 PPG, 6.6 RPG, 1.9 BPG

Jones gives the Nets a solid wing player to go with the earlier pick of Robinson.

He's gifted athletically and performs well in traffic, often getting tough contested baskets and rebounds.

Offensively he's explosive, but can extend his game out behind the arc.

Defensively he's also very tough on the ball and is a very good rebounder.

19. Los Angeles Lakers (via Dallas): Damian Lillard, Weber State

19 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 24.5 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 3.9 APG, 1.4 SPG

Lillard keeps climbing up the board and with the Lakers need for a point guard, they will elect to fill that with the first of their two first-round picks.

He's capable of running an offense effectively and can score within the flow of the game.

Lillard gets to the rim and can shoot the jumper effectively as well. He's very quick and does a lot of things very well.

20. Philadelphia 76ers: Meyers Leonard, Illinois

20 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 13.3 PPG, 8.4 RPG, 1.9 BPG

Getting Leonard at No. 20 could prove to be a steal of the Sixers.

He's as strong as he is quick and can both bang on the block against bigger guys or put the ball on the deck and blow by slower defenders.

21. Atlanta Hawks: Kris Joseph, Syracuse

21 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 14.1 PPG, 5.0 RPG

Joseph could be a good pick here for the Hawks, who've never really gotten the production they would have hoped for from Marvin Williams at the 3.

He's a well-coached great athlete who's active at both ends of the floor and has the tendency to make things happen.

22. Memphis Grizzlies: John Jenkins, Vanderbilt

22 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 20.0 PPG, 2.7 RPG

This guy can flat out shoot the rock and would be a great fit in Memphis and a good addition to their already solid core.

Jenkins has the best step back jumper in the college game today and has a lighting quick release to go with a very smooth shooting touch.

Just another young solid addition to an up-and-coming Memphis team.

23. Los Angeles Lakers: Tony Mitchell, North Texas

23 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 14.8 PPG, 10.8 RPG, 3.0 BPG

The Lakers need production from the wing and Mitchell can certainly produce.

He's a very good scorer who can get after it on the glass.

He runs the floor great and is a tremendous leaper.

On the defensive end, Mitchell can leap and has a very long wingspan. he's very tough to score against and that should interest Mike Brown.

24. Orlando Magic: Fab Melo, Syracuse

24 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 7.7 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 3.0 BPG

This late in the draft you're banking on potential and taht's what the Magic are doing here in case Dwight Howard isn't in Orlando much longer.

The past few mocks we've had the Magic taking a point guard, but with the best one's off the board at this point, we have them taking a chance on Melo's development.

He's a seven-footer with great length and pretty solid footwork.

Melo has a decent mid-range jumper that could become a weapon if he perfects it.

Overall he's going to have to work on much of his offensive game, but the talent is certainly there.

25. Indiana Pacers: Doron Lamb, Kentucky

25 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 13.3 PPG, 2.9 RPG

Lamb gives the pacers another scoring option.

He can shoot it and has the ability to take games over with both his long-range and mid-range game's.

He's improved his ability to get to the bucket as well and has a nice well-rounded offensive game.

26. Boston Celtics (via Los Angeles Clippers): Herb Pope, Seton Hall

26 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 15.3 PPG, 10.3 RPG, 1.3 BPG

Pope has the ability to be an explosive player at the next level.

The Celtics need quality frontcourt players and Pope could fit in nicely in Boston.

He's a very good finisher and excellent rebounder who could fit nicely into the Celtics rotation right away.

27. San Antonio Spurs: Mason Plumlee, Duke

27 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 11.0 PPG, 9.2 RPG, 1.5 BPG

Tim Duncan isn't getting any younger and Plumlee could benefit greatly from playing behind one of the all-time greats.

He's a tremendous leaper and very good rebounder, who's got a bit of explosiveness to his game.

28. Miami Heat: William Buford, Ohio State

28 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 15.1 PPG, 4.9 RPG

Buford fills a need as a guy that can provide more depth and come off the bench and shoot the ball.

He's got good extension with his jumper and a quick release.

Buford's also very athletic and has good size and length.

29. Oklahoma City Thunder: Patric Young, Florida

29 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 10.5 PPG, 6.5 RPG

Young's offensive game is raw, but he's got a very high ceiling and Oklahoma City can afford to allow him to develop.

He's got an NBA body, good athletic ability and a motor that never quits.

Even as his offensive game develops, he should still be effective on the glass and on the defensive end of the floor.

30. Chicago Bulls: Draymond Green, Michigan State

30 of 31

2011-12 Stats: 16.2 PPG, 10.3 RPG, 3.5 APG, 1.5 SPG

Green goes to the Bulls with the final pick of the first round and could fit in nicely to Tom Thibodeau's system.

He can play the 3 or the 4, runs the floor well and is solid on both the glass and the defensive end of the floor.
