2012 NFL Free Agents: DeSean Jackson and Biggest Headaches Worth the Price

Jun 7, 2018

With a 2012 NFL free-agency pool full to the brim of bright stars, we are looking to analyze which headaches are still worth the asking price.

Players like DeSean Jackson have been under the microscope because of issues this season, but all will be forgiven when it comes payday. That’s just how much talent these stars have.

All of the following players had their issues in the past, but will be a great addition to any team needy at that position. It also helps to have a strong support system in place already as well.

DeSean Jackson

There is no question that DeSean Jackson is one of the fastest receivers in the NFL. But this season exposed some serious character flaws in the young players’ mental state.

With that said, Jackson is still worth whatever price the Philadelphia Eagles or any team that wants him once he hits free agency. Even with accusations of mailing in effort and being a distraction, teams with a strong support system could get much production from the star.

What makes Jackson great is that he can take the lid off a defense from the first play of the game. With a burner like Jackson, it makes everyone on that offense better which is always worth the risk.

Many people complain about Cedric Benson’s attitude and production, but I fail to see a problem. With a mediocre offensive line, Benson has put up three consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons.

With the youth movement in full swing on the offensive side of the ball, there is a belief that University of Miami running back Lamar Miller may be an option for the Bengals. That would mean Benson hits the free-agency market as one of the best backs this season.

Benson’s yard-per-carry numbers have always scared people. But with a strong group of run blockers in front of him, Benson could not only avoid being a headache himself, he could take away a need team’s headache.

Cortland Finnegan

There may be no stronger of a personality at the cornerback position in the NFL than Cortland Finnegan.

But that’s what teams want from their defensive player.

With Finnegan’s coverage abilities being in the top 15 in the NFL, he will be highly pursued no matter what questions linger about attitude. Last time I checked, guys like Rex Ryan and old-school defensive minds like the attitudes.

If the Titans don’t pull the trigger on locking this guy up long-term, some lucky team will get the kind of player that has the whole mindset of a defense changed to a more Baltimore Ravens like swagger.
