The Houston Texans have a big decision to make regarding Mario Williams, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent on March 13.

Their decision may have just become a bit easier, though, after Williams' recent responses in an interview with houstontexans.com when he said:

Well, you know, I mean, I love it here. We’ve got everything we need here. The team is obviously right where it needs to be at, and we were a couple plays away from getting to the Super Bowl, I feel like.

He went on to say that he understands it's a business...blah, blah, blah.

The real kicker came at the end of the interview:

I’m not worried about that, Williams said. Money is money at the end of the day, and it’s really not that big of a deal for me. Whatever best fits for myself and the team, whichever it may be, then so be it. I’m not focused on telling my agent (Ben Dogra), ‘Hey, do this or do that because I want to be the highest paid player, bla bla.’ You know, I was the first pick, so I’ve had everything I’ve ever really wanted already, so my biggest thing is just being in a good position, being in a good fit, being in a good scheme or system and just being able to continue my career and progress.

Wow. A player that isn't obsessed with himself or money. That's a rarity these days.

It's fantastic news for the Texans, too. When you consider that they had arguably one of the top three defenses in the league last year without Williams, it is downright frightening to think about how good they could be with him in 2012.

As it was, they managed to come in sixth in the NFL in sacks (44). I can't imagine that number going anywhere but higher with Williams in the lineup causing havoc.

Williams' declaration doesn't mean he's automatically going to appear on the Texans' opening day roster, but at least you know they have a fighting chance.

The Houston Chronicle's John McClain reported recently that:

It sure sounds like the Texans have no intentions of letting Williams go, and with his inclination to stick around I'm confident he'll remain in Houston for years to come.

All Wade Phillips needs now is a stud nose tackle and he'll have the best all-around front seven in the NFL.
