Billups' season is over with, but he can finally start his rehab and get back into playing shape next season.
According to ESPN's Chris Palmer, the star point guard had successful surgery to repair his left Achilles tendon on Wednesday.
While he will not be back this year, he could be back for the start of the 2012-13 season barring any setbacks.
Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times Billups is going to have to wait four more weeks before he can begin the rehabilitation process.

Chauncey Billups will have surgery on Wednesday in Colorado to repair the torn Achilles injury that will force him to miss the remainder of the season, according to Yahoo! Sports.
The Clippers have the third-best record in the Western Conference, but will certainly miss Billups' scoring and veteran leadership when the playoffs arrive.
Update: Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 4:10 p.m. ET: Tim Daniels
Billups underwent an MRI today in Cleveland, where the Clippers headed after last night's win in Orlando, according to Clippers reporter Madelyn Burke. The team continues to await results of the testing on the guard's Achilles.
While the Clippers are obviously continuing to hope for the best in this situation, the way Billups went down didn't look promising. L.A. does have some depth in the backcourt, which should help offset any bad news that may arise, but Billups and Paul were working really well together.
More once the results become public.
Original Post
HoopsWorld editor Steve Kyler reports that more than a couple Clippers players stated Billups tore the tendon. In their words, he is "done."
The injury came on Monday night with five minutes 48 seconds left in the fourth quarter in a game the Clippers would eventually win in overtime, 107-102, over the Orlando Magic.
What It Means
There is no telling how severe the injury is. It's important to note that the reports coming in are from players and that Billups will no doubt undergo tests in the coming days.
However, the initial returns do not look good for a quick turnaround. Billups had 11 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter and was giving the Clippers the boost they needed. After missing one three-point attempt, he fell to the court and needed help to the locker room.
Billups may not be the superstar guard that we were used to seeing, but at 35, he was lending a strong veteran hand to the young Clippers. He is averaging 14.8 points and 4.1 assists per game.
If the Clippers lose Billups for a prolonged amount of time, the backlash may be severe. He is the kind of player that can be counted on to boost the team at any point with a scoring surge like he did Monday night.
What's Next?
Michael Martinez of Fox Sports reports Billups had a protective boot placed on his left foot after the game. He also made sure to state that not much would be known until Tuesday at the earliest.
For the time being, it's safe to say that the Clippers will have to rely much more heavily on players like Mo Williams, Eric Bledsoe and Randy Foye.
While the depth will take a hit, there is no replacing the expertise and clutch factor of Mr. Big Shot himself. If they lose Billups for a lengthy period, it doesn't kill their title hopes.
It does make it a tremendous amount more difficult, though.
