Super Bowl 2012: Patriots Already Big Losers According to Perennial Madden Sim

Gabe ZaldivarJan 30, 2012

For Super Bowl teams, it's important to hit this week with poise and calm. We will find that it also helps to be the winners in the yearly and nerd-tastic endeavor of simulating the Super Bowl on the latest version of Madden

We all know how real Madden can be, and how many hours of life it can suck out of you each year. That is why a simulation pitting the last two teams remaining against one another should not be scoffed at.

NFL columnist for The Daily Times Ebenezer Samuel tweets what may the biggest prediction of the week.

We can tell Samuel that it is worth a great deal. Being an uber-nerd myself, this is precisely the kind of sports feedback that I need in making my Super Bowl predictions

The Madden curse works two ways. For one, the cover athlete is destined to play JaMarcus Russell after a buffet bender. Secondly, the Madden Super Bowl simulation is a better guide than most in assessing who will win the big game.

As Chris Chase of Yahoo! Sports reports, the Madden sim has correctly predicted six of the last eight Super Bowls and narrowly missed predicting the exact score of the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Arizona Cardinals game by a single point on each side.

This week will be filled with a million experts that will pick the Giants, and nearly as many that will pick the Patriots. We will hear a great deal about running games, defenses and questions on Eli Manning and his elite status.

All of that is just as good as sitting down and watching your Xbox 360 play out the big game before your very eyes.

This is a new day, where the power of this generation's consoles can take into account so many minutiae that it makes simulations as good as any talking head on ESPN.

Player rankings are meticulously considered and injuries are also taken into account. Madden has thought of pretty much everything, aside from Kelly Clarkson belting out the National Anthem or Madonna looking a bit grim in HD.

The Giants have beaten the video game Super Bowl, and now there is no reason to play the actual one.
