Why Tim Tebow Should Be the Starter for Years to Come

Nathan PalcowskiJan 20, 2012

On January 16th, the Denver Broncos held their year-end press conference.

One of the topics talked about was if Tim Tebow earned the right to be the starter for the future. Executive VP John Elway stated that "Timmy" earned the right to be the starter for the 2012 training camp.

That doesn't give much security for Tim Tebow. Elway was also quoted in saying that he is going to work will ALL quarterbacks and look for another either during free agency or the draft.

Tim Tebow should be the future starter for years to come, and this is why John Elway will be eating his words in the future.

AFC West

1 of 3

The future should be in Tim Tebow's hands because look what he did this year against the AFC West.

Tebow beat every AFC West team in their house. And in every game that Tebow started for the Broncos at home this season, he only lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, on the last week of the season.

As for the future, the AFC West was easily the worst division this year in the AFC. And the future only looks to be going up. When the Broncos improve on this year, look who they have to face. Oakland, who has always been inconsistent and doesn't know if Carson Palmer will be back at helm.

Kansas City's real hope of winning the division is whether or not quarterback Matt Cassel can stay healthy. The San Diego Chargers are the only real threat to the Broncos' dominance, as long as Philip Rivers and that whole team doesn't have a collapse, like they always do.

Look for Tim Tebow and the Broncos to dominate the AFC West for years to come.

One More Year

2 of 3

Tim Tebow, in 2011, barely had an off-season to prepare for this season, and look what he did. He went 7-5 and led the Broncos to an AFC West title and a wild-card weekend win against the defending AFC champions.

This year, Tebow (going into the off-season workouts) will have the confidence of knowing that he will be the starter, and not demoted to fourth-string, supposedly.

Look for Elway and head coach John Fox to prepare Tebow for the upcoming season and maybe teach him how to throw as well.

The Defense

3 of 3

The defense for the Denver Broncos, whether a lot of people want to agree with it or not, saved Tim Tebow and the Broncos offense.  Take into consideration that "Tebow Time" may of never happened if it was for the defense.

This defense will get better next year, with experience.  And having a secondary that includes still pro-bowl corner Champ Bailey, along with safety Brian Dawkins (who many forget is still on the team due to injury) and you have a great secondary.

Pair that with Von Miller and defensive end Robert Ayers and the Broncos will have a defense that can put up or shut up with the big boys.

This defense gives Tebow the shot to be the starter for the Denver Broncos for at least 5 more years.
