Oakland Raiders: Owner Admits Los Angeles Is Possibility for Wayward Franchise

The possibility exists that the Oakland Raiders could move back to Los Angeles in the near future.

Raiders owner Mark Davis made that abundantly clear at a Tuesday press conference. Via Paul Gutierrez of CSNCalifornia.com, here's the key quote:

Davis, son of late Raiders legend Al Davis, also stressed that there is a sense of urgency for the team to get a new stadium, wherever it may be located.

"The timetable is yesterday. So that’s where it is. We’ve got to get a stadium. We’ve got to get that done," said Davis, according to Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News.

Though he declined to go into specifics, Davis did say that there are offers on the table.

The Raiders were located in Los Angeles from 1982-1994, winning Super Bowl XVIII in 1983. They moved back to Oakland in 1995, eventually filing suit against the city due to the team's lack of sellouts.

The Raiders managed to sell out all eight of their home games in 2011, the first time the team has done so since its return to Oakland. Typically, the Raiders sell out just a couple home games every season, resulting in television blackouts in the Bay Area.

The Silver and Black play in the O.co Coliseum, a stadium that has been around since the mid-1960s. They share the stadium with the Oakland Athletics, and they too are seeking a new stadium that they can call their own.

Recently, Sports Illustrated ranked the O.co Coliseum as the No. 23 stadium in the NFL, with a No. 32 rank in the "Atmosphere" category.

Before the Raiders go looking for a new stadium, they're going to need to find a new head coach. Earlier on Tuesday, new general manager Reggie McKenzie fired Hue Jackson, who went 8-8 in his only season at the helm in 2011.
