The 5 Best Jaw Dropping Incredible "OMG" Plays of 2011

Soven BeryDec 28, 2011

The plays that make you jump out of your seat and scream for joy are easily the best part of sports.

In every sport, in every level of sport, there are those plays. And 2011 didn't disappoint in terms of the "WOW" factor.

Every league had a single play that defined a whirlwind season.

So here are the best plays of 2011.

NBA

Blake Griffin was a human highlight reel in 2011. Every top play in the NBA had his fingerprints all over it so here is one of Griffins best dunks.

It came against an unsuspecting Knicks team, and, with one powerful dunk after another, Griffin laid down the law.

NFL

2 of 5

The best play of the NFL in 2011 came down to Jerome Simpson's Leap of Faith and this. I finally chose Marshawn Lynch because it came in the playoffs.

Lynch put his team on his back and went "Madden" on the Saints. Seattle's all-important 12th man practically blew up after this amazing showing of beast mode.

There was simply nothing else like it.

I'm not going to lie. I've watched this video multiple times in a row.

It never fails to amuse me. As sports fans, we live for stuff like this. The incredible show of athleticism that Wayne Rooney delivered to us all does not deserve to go unnoticed.

Just spectacular.

NHL

There is no doubt in my mind that this is the NHL Goal of the Year. Simply put, this was amazing.

Jordan Eberle scored on a breakaway and dove onto the ice. The crowd erupted into a frenzy and I could see why.

Eberle put on a show that won't be forgotten.

MLB

In one night and one flick of a bat David Freese went from a nobody to a household name.

In Game 6 of the World Series, Freese tied the game in the bottom of the ninth with two outs. In the 11th inning, he hit a walk-off home run to win the game.

Many have called this the greatest sports moment of 2011. There was no doubt it was simply amazing.

It is these kinds of plays that make me fall in love with sports all over again.
