Most wrestling fans are anxiously waiting for one of the WWE’s biggest and longest-running yearly events: The Royal Rumble.  In most cases, a Royal Rumble win propels a superstar into the upper echelon of the WWEgiving them a shot at either the WWE Championship or the World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Mania.

There are several wrestlers that are instant favorites to win, what most wrestling fans consider, the greatest event in the business.  In 2011, five WWE superstars in particular have made this list to possibly become the WWE Royal Rumble 2012 winner.

Counting down from five to the No. 1 pick...

5.) Alberto Del Rio

2011 was a stellar year for “The Mexican Aristocrat” winning not one, but two WWE championships.  In addition to those impressive accolades, ADR is a former WWE Royal Rumble winner.

Some wrestling fans would not bet on ADR winning the Rumble two years in a row, but those same fans probably scoffed at the notion of other stars such as Shawn Michaels and Steve Austin winning back-to-back Rumbles.  Del Rio has all of the prerequisitesthe cunning, the talent and a personal ring announcer, Ricardo Rodriguezto become a two-time WWE Royal Rumble winner.

4.) Randy Orton

Randy Orton has won his share of world championships and is, without a doubt, one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time.

“The Apex Predator” is a fan favourite in the WWE, but speaking from a “Straight Booking” perspective, he has been put on a massive losing streak of late.  This could be the win that he’s looking for.  Also, considering that the WWE Royal Rumble is taking place in St. Louis, Missouri, Orton’s hometown, he is a possible favourite to win.

3.) Cody Rhodes

Rhodes literally has it alltalent, dashing good looks and he cuts a great promo.  In 2011 he captured the WWE intercontinental title and like his famed father, Dusty, Cody will definitely see world championships in his future.

Combine that with his maniacal side that shows no mercy toward his opponents, Rhodes could have his hand raised as the winner of the 2012 WWE Royal Rumble.

2.) Mark Henry

Mark Henry recently proved he was championship material, when he became the world heavyweight champion.  Henry’s sheer size and strength also make him a real life “immovable object,” creating a real challenge for his Rumble opponents.

Since he has opened “The Hall of Pain,” Henry has taken out some of the WWE’s biggest superstars, including Kane and the Big Show.  If Henry’s Hall of Pain continues to stay open during the Rumble match, he is sure to win his ticket to WrestleMania.

And now, the No. 1 pick to win the 2012 WWE Royal Rumble...

1.) Kane

Since his return in late December 2011, Kane has re-ignited the indestructible side that he showed when he first debuted in the WWE in 1997.

In past Royal Rumble matches, Kane has toppled some of the WWE’s top superstars, and to this day still holds the record for most Royal Rumble eliminations: 11.  That in itself is an extremely impressive feat that not many superstars are able to top.  Kane is a former world champion and a serious threat for any WWE superstar in the Royal Rumble match.

The year 2012 will be a very good year for “The Big Red Machine,” starting with a win at the 2012 WWE Royal Rumble.
