WWE Raw: Jack Swagger Is the Next Big WWE Superstar to Turn Face

Justin WatryDec 17, 2011

At last check, Jack Swagger was still a member of Monday night Raw. I understand brands do not mean much anymore, but he is still on the Red Brand.

Truth be told, I watched ECW during its entire run on Tuesdays. From 2006-2010, I really enjoyed the show. Once the old timers were gone, WWE really took advantage of the extra hour on television.

One talent who got a break on ECW was Jack Swagger. He did not stand above the rest, but (like Sheamus on ECW) you knew something was there. He was a wrestler to take note of.

Less than a year later, he was ECW Champion, on his way to Raw. Not long after, he was World Heavyweight Champion defeating Chris Jericho. His series of matches with Edge, Big Show, and Rey Mysterio were all the world needed to see. The man had talent and lots of it.

While his run at the top was (rightfully) cut short, it was not the end of the world. He lost the World title. Big deal! It happens to nearly everybody in the business (not named Mark Henry).

Since then, he has found a nice spot in the middle of the card. He is a good heel (with Vickie), and he is always ready to tear the house down with an excellent match. Again, nice talent to have on any show!

However, I think his run as a heel is starting to come to an end. I have been thinking about his situation since after WrestleMania 27. He had a great spot managing Michael Cole, but the wheels were in motion for a face turn soon after.

Now? I think the time may be coming near to pull the trigger on making the All-American American, exactly what his nickname tells us he is. It is almost time for Mr. Swagger to be a good guy in WWE!

I am not talking about becoming a patriotic face. I am talking about making him out to be a wrestler. Yes, a wrestler. Make him credible in the ring with take downs, tackles, submissions. You know, wrestling moves. Wrestling holds. Things only a few men know how to perform in the squared circle!

It is just my opinion, but I feel he may just get over as a face. Just like The Miz! They made great heels, but each may be an even better face. Within the next year, I see a face turn for both.

Last night on Smackdown, my suspicions were justified.

Not only did he stand up to Mark Henry, but he also cut a very nice promo on him. Later on, he was attacked by the heel (Mark Henry) and sure looked like the good guy in the whole picture. You add an inevitable split with Dolph (and Vickie), and you have a major face turn on the horizon.

I don't know about any of you, but I would welcome the change. WWE needs a few more top faces, and Swagger fits the  mold perfectly. As a former World Champion, he has proven to be more than ready to step up. Just my opinion...
