WWE News: WWE Officials Reportedly Lacking Faith in Alberto Del Rio and the Miz

The WWE roster arguably has less depth now than it has at any point in history, but don’t fret, it’s not all bad news for the company.

CM Punk, John Cena and Randy Orton are still immensely popular, and even someone like Sheamus is getting over as one of the most beloved performers in professional wrestling. The only problem is that most of the company’s top stars are baby faces, which leaves the heel side of the roster looking a lot weaker.

And that’s something that WWE officials currently see as a big problem.

It’s said that Alberto Del Rio’s stock isn’t as high as it was a few months ago within WWE. There’s a feeling that RAW is lacking a top heel and while The Miz is good, he’s not seen as someone who can be the brand-carrying heel. Del Rio was supposed to be that heel but the feeling is that he’s not quite at that level either.

I’ve got to agree.

I’m not a big fan of Del Rio at all, and I think that though The Miz is a great talker, he’s got a ways to go before he establishes himself as the bona fide No. 1 heel in the WWE. Heck, even Mark Henry’s current great run as Smackdown’s top heel doesn’t have me viewing him as the company’s top heel for the long-term.

I just don’t see any heel right now being able to take that top heel spot in the company and run with it.

There are a number of guys who are on the cusp of it—Cody Rhodes, Wade Barrett and Dolph Ziggler immediately come to mind—but they’re not established enough to be the top dog just yet, no matter how close they are.

Those guys are definitely headed in the right direction, but the WWE needs to do one of two things to ensure that it will have a top heel for the foreseeable future: Either bring back Chris Jericho, or turn one of those top baby faces heel.

We’d all love to see Cena turn to the dark side, but I’ll only believe that when I see it. That’s why I think the WWE should consider turning Orton because he hasn’t been a heel in nearly two years now, while Punk and Sheamus basically just turned.

The Miz and Del Rio can deliver in some feuds in the short-term, but Orton can do it better than both of those guys can, and he can do it consistently for the long-term.
