The moment you step into the spotlight and become a star in America, every move you make is under a microscope.

Athletes, actors, actresses, musicians and others in the limelight have learned this the hard way for years.

Now, it's WWE legend Hulk Hogan's turn.

The wrestling icon is suing his ex-wife Linda for claims she made in her memoir Wrestling the Hulk: My Life Against the Ropes.

In the book there are accusations that Hogan was both an abusive husband and that he had an affair with another wrestler.

His attorney, Will Florin, states that "Miss Bollea's made enough of these outrageous allegations that it's time they stop ... The only realistic way of making them stop is through the court system."

The assumption is that Hogan is suing for defamation of character. However, it's likely the damage has already been done.

Whether the accusations are true or not, Hogan's name will now forever be tarnished by what was said.

Every person will now make their own assumptions. In some people's eyes, he will be innocent, but others will never look at him the same.

The fact that Hogan was a WWE superstar may not help his image.

There are already many who look down at wrestlers to begin with. There are many things that tarnish their image.

Accusations of being macho, abusive, alcoholics, drug-users and steroid abusers is just a small portion of the list.

That can be said about any sport, but it appears at least that professional wrestlers get a closer look when it comes to these things.

Hogan may win the lawsuit, but the battle to keep his image may have already been lost.
