Wrestlemania 25 Preview: The Big One?

The 25th anniversary of something as big in the sports world as Wrestlemania deserves a big event. But is this going to be the case?

The road to Wrestlemania doesn't officially start until Royal Rumble. But surely with the size of the event, wouldn't there at least be some preparations being made?

As far as I can see, this Wrestlemania shows no signs of being any bigger than the rest of them.

Now I'm not a fan of the current script writers in the WWE but I do think that there's potential to do something special for the quarter century anniversary. I'm not entirely sure that the current writers have the ability to do this.

I wish the good old days from the attitude era would present themselves again. Those days, were without a doubt, the best and most entertaining days for WWE.

The storylines were amazing, the wrestlers were top quality and the entertainment value was sky high. The PG rating imposed on WWE restricts what they can and cannot do, but some improvement needs to be made.

What does everyone else think about main events or matches for Wrestlemania?

I originally thought they were going to persist with the Jericho/HBK storyline with Y2J obviously being the ultimate heel.

Now it looks like Raw's main event has got Orton vs. Cena written all over it. With Batista almost certain to miss the chance of being involved in any Wrestlemania storyline, I don't see a lot of other options.

The recent storyline involving Legacy, I think would guarantee Orton winning the World Heavyweight Championship, following in the footsteps of Evolution.

As far as Smackdown goes, I think an Egde/Hardy feud is on the cards.

Who goes into Wrestlemania with the title remains to be seen, but for me, Hardy will definitely be in the main event, with Edge the most likely opponent. The only other real contender is Triple H. I believe he will be involved in another major storyline, possibly with The Undertaker.

Finally, one massive issue needs to be resolved. Will either HBK or The Undertaker retire at Wrestlemania 25? If so, who will retire them?

I have no idea how they're going to retire Undertaker when his body finally gives up the ghost! You can't take his streak, that's what he's all about, he has to stay perfect at Wrestlemania but he is only worthy of retiring at Wrestlemania so what does WWE do?

If HBK is to retire at Wrestlemania 25, HBK vs. Triple H would be an ideal way for him to bow out, without Triple H going heel. This would be seen as the end of DX, the end of an era and the end of Mr. Wrestlemania

I have yet to see evidence of any big storylines happening so who knows whether this Wrestlemania will get the event is deserves.
