Baltimore Ravens vs. Cleveland Browns: Key Halftime Stats for the Ravens

Joseph MerkelDec 4, 2011

Three huge wins, with three huge losses following them. That's basically been the story of the Ravens' season. After an emotional win on Thanksgiving over the one-loss 49ers, many weren't entirely sure what to expect from the Ravens.

The Ravens came out firing, getting their workhorse Ray Rice immediately involved. He's the key to the offense and it's not even close.

The Ravens went for it on fourth down on their first two drives to start the game. Unfortunately, they only converted on the second one. Either way, it shows gutsy play-calling by John Harbaugh and Cam Cameron. Instead of kicking a field goal and the score being 6-0, the Ravens got the touchdown after Flacco was successful on a quarterback sneak. After seeing the Steelers throttle the Bengals, the Ravens are smart to put be putting the petal down. They need to dominate this game on all phases.

107 Yards, 1 TD

Rice has tied his season-high in rushing yards, and we're still at the half. Are you kidding me? We all knew the Browns couldn't stop the run, but this is just getting ridiculous. This game shouldn't even be close with his performance, but it's good to see that he's not slowing down as the season wears on.

The Ravens brought out backup QB Tyrod Taylor for a wildcat formation in the red zone while Flacco was flanked at wide receiver. It was the first snap all season that Joe wasn't under center for the Ravens. I appreciated the creativity by Cam Cameron, but Flacco at wide receiver doesn't give us the best chance for a touchdown. Luckily, Taylor didn't make any mistakes and even gained a few yards on a quarterback scamper.

The amount of time the Ravens' defense was on the field in the first half was fantastic. When you're able to keep a defense that loves to blitz fresh and off the field, the opposing team generally is in for a long day.
