The Undertaker's Wrestlemania Streak: Who Will Face The Deadman Next?

'Rowdy' Ross RutherfordSenior Analyst IDecember 23, 2008

Before I begin I would like to show you the list of men the Undertaker has defeated at Wrestlemania:

  • Jimmy "The Superfly" Snuka
  • Jake "The Snake" Roberts
  • Giant Gonzalas
  • King Kong Bundy
  • Diesel
  • Sycho Sid
  • Kane (twice)
  • The Big Boss Man
  • Triple H
  • Ric Flair
  • The Big Show and A Train
  • Randy Orton
  • Mark Henry
  • Batista
  • Edge

Impressive isn't it? The problem is now the WWE has to keep coming up with worthy opponents for The Undertaker's winning "Streak." When you think of all the former champions "Taker" has defeated, or all of the legends he has defeated, it is really overwhelming. Now, the WWE has to top themselves again.

After defeating 16 superstars, champions, and legends the WWE must find someone to stand and add to this credible list of opponents who have put on great match after great match at Wrestemania with the Undertaker only to be defeated by "The Deadman." That will not be an easy task.

Shawn Michaels: The most obvious choice and still the right one in my mind, but it seems that Shawn may still be busy dealing with his finances and JBL by next March or so. This match may not happen which is disappointing as it is the match we have been dreaming about.

The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels, in their home state of Texas, facing each other at Wrestlemania's 25th anniversary. It just doesn't get any bigger than that ladies and gentlemen.

Mr. Kennedy: I remember back in 2006, these two men had a feud in the fall that I enjoyed a lot. Kennedy even dominated most of the feud holding his own against The Phenom.

I like the idea of these two men going at it again as I am still a big fan on Mr. Kennedy's in ring work despite what everyone says about it. This match could be a possibility.

Jeff Hardy: REALLY!? Wow, that would be an interesting one. Two completely different styles clashing on the biggest stage of them all, Wrestlemania 25. I think this match is a money maker that all the WWE fans have dreamed about, including me.

They have had matches before, but not on the level that they could have at Wrestlemania. Man screw HBK vs. Taker, I want to see Jeff Hardy face the Deadman now.

Triple H: This match has been thrown around the Internet over the past couple of months and I have no problem with it, except for the fact they have already had an awesome match at Wrestlemania in Houston.

Yeah, it would be cool to see it again, but there is no way they can top the match they had at Wrestlemania X-Seven, so why even go there?

Umaga: That is an interesting match up, but the only problem that I have with it is that he does not have the "name power" for a match this big at Wrestlemania. At the 25th Wrestlemania, The Undertaker will be in a match that is higher up on the card and I don't think I will able to get myself excited about Taker vs. Umaga.

MVP: This has the same problem that the Taker/Umaga match has, not a big match up. Although, I do think these two could have a good match.

I remember back in 2007 when MVP was chasing the United States Championship, Chris Benoit got a nice string of matches out of him. This could happen, but it's not likely. I wouldn't mind it, but there are better choices.

Ted DiBiase: Haha, yeah right.

Well I think The Undertaker's opponent is anyone's guess at this point, but I'm still leaning towards HBK for his opponent. What about you? Who do you think/want The Undertaker to face at Wrestlemania 25?
