Week 12 Fantasy Football Rankings: Tim Tebow and More QBs on the Rise

Josh MartinNov 26, 2011

The Year of the Young Quarterback in the NFL has given rise to a number of new signal callers worth considering for your fantasy football team. These three gunslingers, in particular, have improved their productivity with each passing week and figure to continue their respect ascents in Week 12.

Tim Tebow, Denver Broncos

Tim Tebow ain't pretty to watch on a football field, but boy, can he put up some solid fantasy stats! The kid's been a force to be reckoned with in fantasy land, more than making up for poor passing yardage totals with big runs and touchdowns every which way.

Tebow was productive in a short stint against the Chargers in his season debut back in October. He hasn't improved all that much since then, but playing under center from the get-go should allow Tebow to stuff the stat sheet from start to finish against a defense that's among the 10 friendliest for opposing fantasy QBs in the NFL.

Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers

Nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina, especially if you're Cam Newton and especially if you're playing the Indianapolis Colts. Indy's D is about as easy to pick on as any in the league for quarterbacks and running backs alike.

Which bodes doubly well for Newton, who's just as capable of launching the ball downfield to Steve Smith as he is of running over, around and through the likes of Pat Angerer and Dwight Freeney.

Sure, he was terrible against the Lions last weekend (four picks), but the Colts are an entirely different (and much more friendly) animal for a precocious rookie like Newton to deal with.

Christian Ponder, Minnesota Vikings

Speaking of rookies, Christian Ponder will get a taste this weekend of what Cam Newton's life has been like all season. Ponder has had the privilege of handing the ball off to Adrian Peterson on every other down since he took over under center for Donovan McNabb.

But with "All Day" out, Ponder will be asked to step up his game and take full control of the Vikings' offense...unless Leslie Frazier really thinks Toby Gerhart can be an every-down, feature 'back.

In other words, look for Ponder to have his eyes ahead toward Percy Harvin and Visanthe Shiancoe rather than to Gerhart behind him.
