Tennessee Titans-Pittsburgh Steelers: Final Pregame Thoughts

Everyone else seemed to be putting pictures of good-looking women in their posts recently; who am I to go against the trend?

Seriously, though, as I sit here awaiting sleep so that I can get up, cook breakfast, then settle down in my new easy chair and watch this gargantuan match up, a few thoughts popped into my head.

Maybe if I unload them I can finally hit the sack. So here they are:

—With the forecast calling for temperatures to be below freezing and a chance of white stuff falling at game time, will the Steelers feel as at home here as they do in Pittsburgh?

—Is Willie Parker really nearing 100%, and if so will the absence of Albert Haynesworth and Kyle Vanden Bosch set him up for his best game of the season?

—Who draws the first penalty: Ward or Finnegan?

—Will the winner of this game do the smart thing and rest it's starters in the second half of next week's game?

— Blowout or close contest? I'm not sure which one I want. Do I hope for a comfortable lead by the Steelers in the fourth quarter, or do I want to be on the edge of my seat until the last play and hope for a favorable call on the game-winning drive?

—Why don't the Steelers have cheerleaders (really, they don't; I've checked)?

—Why am I watching this game at home when I have a brother who I KNOW has access to tickets?

—Should I go to the store for Miller Lite, or make do with the Killian's I already have in the fridge?

—Breakfast: Eggs and Bacon, or Pancakes and Bacon (that reminds me; I'm almost out of milk)?

—If my brother isn't going to the game, should I call him, or just show up? If he is going to the game, should I offer to house sit and watch the game in HD (he has more beer than I do, too)?

—Which team jersey should I wear? I'm a Steelers fan, but it's in the city charter that all Nashville residents must show support for the home team (that's what I heard, anyway).

—What will Pete Prisco's take be on the game? Regardless of the outcome, you just know he's going to find fault with some aspect of the Steelers game plan (he has the Titans by four in his weekly picks).

—I wonder if people think I have an unhealthy obssession with Pete Prisco's column. ANSWER: Probably. But what fun would agreeing with him every week be?

—Should I secretly root for the Titans so I have a decent shot at possibly seeing them play again in the AFC Championship Game?(probably not going to happen; me rooting for the Titans, that is)?

—Is that cheerleader wearing a wig, or does she just have REALLY dark roots?

—Should I wake up early and work on my college work, or wait until after the game is over and we get back from Christmas shopping when I'll probably be too tired to deal with it and put it off until tomorrow (Monday)?

—Did the Titans sell this game out so it will actually be broadcast in Nashville? Silly question, I know, but the mere thought that they might not have is terrifying.

—I wonder what the scalper price for tickets to the game will go for. You only need one kidney and half a liver to survive, right?

—Should I get my new chihuahua a Steelers jersey for Christmas? I swore I wouldn't ever put clothes on him, but I might make an exception for that.

—And finally, will I get to crow a little bit in my next column, or will I be eating crow?

And there you have it, folks: the inner workings of an overtired football fan.

Here's hoping to a great game.
