Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade: 8 MMA Fighters We'd Like to See as Floats
MMA is the last thing that people think of when watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade...until now.
The floats at the parade encompass a wide variety of movies, shows and other things in pop culture. They range from Bart Simpson, to the Pillsbury Doughboy, to Spider-Man.
However, one aspect of society that isn't catered to in the parade (and will almost certainly never be) are MMA fans.
So, if we were given a choice, what MMA-fighter floats would we like to see at the parade?
Emmanuel Yarborough
1 of 8Giant Sumo wrestler Emmanuel Yarborough hasn't fought in over a decade and only had one fight in the UFC (a loss to Keith Hackney at UFC 3), but wouldn't it be great to see them try to make a float of him?
How many floats would they have to duct tape together in order to make it big enough? Hell, maybe they could even just hoist him up in the air and pretend he IS the float.
Alistair Overeem
2 of 8Why would we want to see a float of Alistair Overeem?
Like with Yarborough's portliness, Overeem's muscularity would mean the float would be massive and memorable.
Cain Velasquez
3 of 8He's not exceptionally chubby or muscular, but wouldn't it be interesting to see if Macy's thought the American public was ready to see a float with a "Brown Pride" tattoo?
Gina Carano
4 of 8We'd all love an inflatable version of Gina Carano, right?
Kimbo Slice
5 of 8Kimbo Slice is one of the most recognized MMA fighters (as sad as that may be), so having a float of him would make sense in that aspect.
He'd also make a great float because of his muscular build. But two questions that would on everyone's mind are how they would make the beard look realistic and whether or not they'd animate chest stubble.
Brock Lesnar
6 of 8The only thing bigger than Brock Lesnar's frame is his name recognition. Would he not make a great float for those reasons?
But maybe the sword tattoo on his chest would be too phallic for a family-oriented parade.
Georges St.Pierre
7 of 8If adding a float to represent the UFC was actually a serious idea, UFC welterweight champion Georges St.Pierre would be the only guy to make a float of.
He's already been in ads for Gatorade and ESPN and is a consummate professional.
Nick Diaz
8 of 8There's zero possibility of any MMA fighter becoming a float, and there's even less of a probability of Nick Diaz becoming a float.
But, since it's floats that WE want to see, Nick Diaz would be a great option.
Should the float be flipping off the crowds? Or, in true Diaz fashion, should the float not be there at all?
