Artem Dzubya stunned Spurs with a first-half brace, the first thanks to a moment of indecision between Brazilians Gilberto and Gomes and the second a fine run from deep. Spurs rallied in the second-half as substitute Lennon (who replaced the frankly awful Gilberto) set up Luka Modric for his first ever Spurs goal and Bale and Bentley then set up the equaliser for Tom Huddlestone. Spurs finish second in the group whilst the Russians are dumped out.
Racing Santander 3 - Manchester City 1 (UEFA Cup, December 18, 2008)
Jonathan Pereira, Oscar Serrano and Juan Valera with the goals for the home side, Felipe Caicedo pulled one back for City.
PSG 4 - FC Twente 0 (UEFA Cup, December 18, 2008)
Steve McClaren’s side got a thumping in Paris as PSG qualified with an incredible win, Peguy Luyindula, Stephane Sessegnon put the them two up early doors and Mateja Kezman (who had earlier missed a penalty) and Luyindula wrapped up the win late on.
Stuttgart 3 - Standard Liege 0 (UEFA Cup, December 18, 2008)
Sami Khadera continued his goalscoring form (four in the last three games) with the first on five minutes, Roberto Hilbert scored the second four minutes after the break and Ciprian Marica claimed the third on 71. Marcus Babbel records another win as coach, both sides qualify for the next stage.
Benfica 0 - Metalist Kharkiv 1 (UEFA Cup, December 18, 2008)
Metalist managed to pinch top spot in Group B after substitute Olexandr Rykun scored late on to earn the Ukrainians the win.
