Stamford Bridge has had its highs and lows this season, but it has seen consecutive losses for the first time this decade. Now before we all go blaming Villas-Boas for the losses to Arsenal and Liverpool, we need to look at the squad.

Chelsea is an aging club and some players most definitely have their best days behind them, which is taking its toll in the performances Chelsea have put together this season.

Now a clear 12 points behind leader Manchester City and sitting in fifth in the table, Chelsea need to clean house and restructure their squad.

Here are some of the players Chelsea should put for sale.

John Obi Mikel

John Obi Mikel is still only 24 years young and represents Nigeria as well as Chelsea. He has made costly mistakes and has failed to impress at Stamford Bridge.

Now with the likes of Ramires on the squad and other prospects to come, Obi Mikel is the odd man out.

Paulo Ferreira

The Portuguese defender came into Chelsea during the Mourinho years and as time flew he has crept into his 30s and lost a step or two.

Ferreira could be well on his way out of the Premiership come January.

Florent Malouda

Malouda had heavy links to Italy this summer and claimed he was happy in Chelsea. After a string of below-par performances, the French winger needs to boost his play or he can see the exit sign by season's end.

Malouda has been clutch many times for Chelsea but seems to be lost in the formation they are converting to, and that could factor in his departure.

Nicolas Anelka

Daniel Sturridge, Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres are three very good strikers who are slowly overshadowing Nicolas Anelka's name in the stands of Stamford Bridge.

Anelka already has been linked to the MLS, France and recently the Chinese football league. His lack of passion for the team seems to have contributed to his lack of play and performance.
