WWE Survivor Series 2011 Results: 12 Things We Learned

David LevinNov 20, 2011

I have to admit, I was a little excited when I heard The Rock's entrance music. Remember, I am a 40 year-old man who has been waiting for something to happen with this "conspiracy" or this "heel turn" by John Cena or another ambush from Kevin Nash.

None of that happened.

Survivor Series for the most part was low-keyed and went according to some plan that will eventually lead up to the TLC PPV  and then Wrestlemania.

I suspect that at TLC we will see more build-up between Cena and Rock and something between Nash and Triple H. But who know?

Anyway, I give this PPV  a solid "B" for its content and the fact we got to see one of our favorites in the ring again. But the back and forth between Cena and The Brahma Bull has to get amped up a bit, don't you think?

A Rock Bottom at the end of the program did little to make me want to jump out of my seat.

These things, however, we did learn from the event.

12. Beth Phoenix Will Remain Champion Until...

1 of 12

Natalya challenges her, if it comes to that. Or, someone like a Lita or Michelle McCool or even a Kharma returns to the ring.

The Divas Champion is one of only two or three truly strong competitors.

And unless a Kelly Kelly/Eve feud erupts, this division will continue to remain stale.

11. Dolph Ziggler Deserves a WWE Title Shot

2 of 12

Ziggler pulled off the win versus John Morrison and while he has lost in recent weeks, he needs a push toward the top again.

Now that CM Punk is champion, could this happen?

It could be a very entertaining feud between the two.

10. Wade Barrett Is the "Next Big Thing" in the WWE

3 of 12

He is now one of the heavy hitters again on Smackdown and all of the WWE roster.

The way he competed tonight in the Survivor Series match proved he maybe just as talented as a Randy Orton or Sheamus or Mark Henry.

He will be a world champion in the near future.

9. The Announce Crew Needs Jim Ross Back

4 of 12

I thought for a PPV event, the announcers were a bit drab.

There was too much dead air and Michael Cole actually stepped up his game to deliver a decent commentary.

I personally think Booker T has to go.

8. Zack Ryder Will Get His U.S. Title Shot

5 of 12

Woo. Woo Woo.

I am not a Ryder fan, and don't like his gimmick. But he is loved by the adoring fans and well, he is popular and has proven he can be a good performer.

He will eventually get his title shot thanks to his attack of Dolph Ziggler after the U.S. Title match with John Morrison.

7. We Never Got the "Big Moment" We Were Waiting for

6 of 12

I kept waiting for a Kevin Nash invasion or a Triple H demand or even something from a past superstar.

The suspense was good. But I was left feeling empty when it did not happen.

I thought for sure after the match between Rock/Cena and The Awesome Truth it would "go down" but again, nothing.

PPV events are usually not this tame.

Very shocking.

6. Booker T Should Be Managing the Awesome Truth

7 of 12

When you listened to the commentary of Booker T, you swear he was a heel announcer ready to hug R-Truth and Miz like they were gods.

I haven't listened to him enough through announcing, but it could be he will be involved with that somehow in the near future.

5. Is Mark Henry Hurt or Injured?

8 of 12

That is a good question after Big Show landed on his ankle that was folded into a chair.

And if he is "injured" does Big Show claim the title at TLC or do we finally see Daniel Bryan win with his MITB contract?

Also, could it lead to a Big Show/Kane feud?

4. CM Punk Winning Is a GREAT Thing for the WWE

9 of 12

Now, he can truly be the most popular "everyday" star in the WWE.

The anti-hero is loved by so many. He can fight for the people, take on new challengers and still fight with Alberto Del Rio.

Maybe a feud with Ziggler like I said before or even The Miz would be great for the fans to see.

He IS the best in the company today.

3. There Should Have Been a Better Ending Between Rock and Cena

10 of 12

I wanted more sparks. I did not get them. I wanted a Cena heel turn, I did not get it.

If there is to be a "heel" turn by either wrestler and I assume it would be Cena, then it has to come soon.

Which of course, it probably won't happen.

2. The Awesome Truth Sold Well for Rock and John Cena

11 of 12

If there can be an underrated heel tag team at this time, Truth and Miz are it.

They can really sell for their opponents and got a huge push tonight while being in the ring with The Rock.

The Miz may be one of the Top 5 performers in the business today.

Now, if he would only shut up!

1. The Rock Still Has It

12 of 12

He was in shape, looked great and could sell it like no other.

I thought he might be in better shape than he was when he left WWE.

He could still perform at a high level and brought it like he used to.

Glad to see I was not disappointed.
